We Are Alive! November 17th, 2024 Fancy Cheap Lunch!

Daddy got a hankering for a hamburger for lunch today. Rather than going to a fast-food restaurant and spending $35+ for burgers and fries and drinks for everyone, I made a quick trip to the grocery store and picked up some ground hamburger, buns and a 2-liter of root beer.

I pulled some beef tallow from the fridge and found some frozen french-fries on the freezer. So we were able to make some burgers and fries (and drinks) for everyone for cheap. And they were filling and delicious!

ground hamburger, $3.99/lb, 0.20/lb x 8 = 1.6lbs = $6.38
Buns, $1.50/8 = $1.50
2 Liter of root beer = $1.35
Hot french fries (from FH) = $0
Tomatoes and onions from the garden = $0

Fancy lunch for 8 people under $10 total! Even with rising prices, we can still pull off a fancy lunch for cheap!

In addition to being Cheap and elegant food, it is also very tasty and addictive, who doesn't like a hamburger and best of all, homemade, I think it is much better than eating in the street.

What a deal! When my daughter turned 13 we went to a sub-par restaurant to have burgers because they are 2/$6. I told them next birthday I'll make them at home. They'll taste better, be faster, and be cheaper! I like a burger out, but a homemade one is also really tasty. Nice job!

Home burgers are just as good, if not better, than restaurant burgers. Especially better than fast food varieties. !BBH

A few years back we purchased half a cow and filled our chest freezer with meat. The butcher asked if we wanted the scraps for free and we said yes! We put them in the crock pot, melted it all down, strained it and put them in mason jars. We have been enjoying many jars of beef tallow, even now years later! It was well worth the effort.

You can't even get an un-Happy meal for that price.

And, what about the added gluten?
What about the preservatives?
You didn't get twice grilled, and then nuked hamburger patties.

Where is the cheese that is mostly oil?
And the fries fried in seed oils?

Looks like a complete failure! McDs loses again.

mmmm veggies frome the garden are the best here!;)) I know even a cheaper method to eat healthy food and save much money - cereals! rice, buckwheat, wheat - any kind. Do you like them?:)
