A New Job Listing & Job Creation with Hive Stake-Based Income as Payment: Hiring A Comment Curator for the FreeCompliments Community!

Over the course of last year, the FreeCompliments Community has created several consistent jobs that pay out in HSBI. We’ve kept a payroll that has helped with the productivity and growth of the community. Here, I present a position that just opened up!

Using the HSBI (Hive Stake-Based Income) model to pay employees allows them to receive permanent income as long as they keep creating posts. This means that even if they work for only a month or so, they’ll have a lifetime income, in the form of votes, as a result of the HSBI Units they receive, provided they keep posting to Hive.

This job position unfortunately came about through a very unexpected circumstance, because our curator was doing a fantastic job and continues to communicate with me. This is the post that made her quit her position because it broke too many ties with various members of the community, rendering it far too difficult for her to continue participating. I’m not using this as an accusation or proof of wrongdoing, etc. - rather, simply publicly acknowledging it as the reason for resignation. You can make your own judgment, and I will reserve mine.

The Job Position: Comment Curator

This job position will consist of curating all human-written comments made on all posts published within the FreeCompliments Community. This will be done using the @fc-curation account.

As this account is shared by our post curator, the goal is to cumulatively end up with a remaining voting power of approximately 70% (plus / minus a few percent, to allow for variation) at the end of all curation activities.

Ideally, comment curation would be done on a daily basis to maximize the rewards that the account earns from curation, but once every couple of days is ok as well. If a vacation or multiple days off are requested for any reason, a common courtesy of letting myself know will be very helpful so that I can activate our back-up curator.

The payment offer

I’m going to raise the pay for this position since I’m going to try to get more people to leave comments. This job will pay 15 HSBI per month. We will keep track of total comments made within the community, and if there are significant increases in activity, and curation is being done correctly, we’ll increase the pay accordingly.

Continuing to build Hive’s economy by adding different types of jobs

The additional creation of jobs with various structures permits the expanding use case of Hive as a payment for services, in line with Hive’s function as a medium of exchange. Creating multiple types of jobs using a similar payment system provides an initial basis for what can be considered a fair payment, thus establishing Hive as a unit of account. The more jobs are created with Hive, the more we will validate its practical value. Once this happens, we will more readily be able to establish a consistent value of assets in terms of Hive, since it will be attached to work requirements; this will establish Hive’s store of value. Combining all of these factors will turn Hive into functional money.

An economy must be built upon functional money. This is why we must take steps to ensure that Hive can, indeed, function as intended. Let’s continue creating different types of jobs and establish Hive’s practical value with practical use cases.

Conclusion

In order to help the FreeCompliments and help continue the validation of Hive and HBD as valid forms of money, this is a dual job posting using HSBI with a unique structure of payment. Let’s continue building both the community and bringing value to the Hive economy.

What do you think of this job posting? Is the payment offer fair, and are there other positions that you think would help support this community’s growth?

I would love to hear any and all opinions about these topics from everyone who is currently a member of FreeCompliments, since you’re all inaugural members! Anyone else who finds this page is also very welcome to voice their opinion. We’re all about free speech, and everyone’s experience has value.

More posts with further ideas incoming soon!

Is 15 HSBI enough? I'd say probably not. I have a friend building up HSBI and has added about 150. The 1st share gave about a 3 cent vote, but each additional hasn't compounded onto that at all. Now with 184 shares the 1st vote will only be around 8 cents and if they post each day that vote drops approximately 33% each post. So that equals less than 20 cents a week IF they post daily.

Now, I understand it compounds monthly, but even after 10 months the daily votes won't be much more if they are at all. The SBI docs state that you'd need around $20 worth to get a daily vote, which is 100 shares as of today. So, even after a year or two, the annual earnings would be around $20 total. Please correct me if I'm missing something.

For some reason I overlooked this in notifications. Glad I found it!

It is definitely not a huge amount, but my consideration is that the HSBI will build up over the course of a lifetime, not just one year. Even if someone works for a year, they'll reap the benefits for as long as HSBI is around, and as long as they continue to create posts.

Additionally, as mentioned, raises for a consistently good job are certainly on the table (and I've already done this for someone who's stayed in a position and excelled for a long time).

That said, 15 HSBI is definitely not a very large amount, but I'm also considering the fact that this is the starting pay, as well as the involved workload, plus the amount paid for other positions.

The amount of written comments has actually been steadily increasing most months, and I did raise the pay from 10 to 15 HSBI for this exact reason. I may consider raising it some more (maybe 20 HSBI) because the job of going back to older posts to catch certain comments may pose a challenge. Outside of this, from my personal experience, the daily time input for this was ~30 minutes (15 hours per month).

So, with all that considered, plus your calculations (which seem reasonable to me), what do you think?

How many shares do you have to get you your $2.50'ish HSBI vote?

Assuming you mean a daily $2.50 vote here. It's going to be based on Hive's current price ($~0.20). I do know that it's going to be several thousand HSBI. @josephsavage, do you happen to have the formula we can use to calculate this?

The HSBI website is now working. You have 12.7k shares

APR is usually around 12% I believe, but that's after curation. So
(target vote / 2) * 365 days per year / 0.12 apr estimate = subscription $ value
subscription $ value / hive price = estimated units.

I'm estimating 19k and you're coming in at 12700, so actual APR is probably a little better than 12% right now

Thanks Joseph!

So going with the target daily vote of $2.50: 2.5/2*365/0.12/0.2 = around 19k HSBI units, as you estimated. @alphahippie

You must not be getting my notifs...

Looks like I did get them all. I did see the one where you mentioned my HSBI shares. However, I use community accounts for the HSBI rewards/payments. Goal is to grow the community and its active participants / workers.

I'm not sure how the "however" part ties into the convo, but it doesn't matter. I don't think 15 HSBI is enough and my mind hasn't changed

Oh, you posted my HSBI so I wasn't sure if you were trying to compare that to the community accounts.

What do you think would be more fair?

Well, since retention seems to be an issue, I wouldn't raise the 1st months incentive or if you do, just by a little. But, I'd raise the amount of shares for each consecutive month they remain on the job. Since we've already established that even 100 hsbi doesn't really do much I think giving them a set beneficiary % on the community posts or at least on a specific post theme, since you have consistent themes you post about.

I do have the benefit of earning a % of post rewards for our post curator, since part of their duty is to write out posts about post curation via @fc-rewards ad @fc-curation.

It may be a little bit more challenging to implement this for a comment curator. I'd have to think about how that can be implemented. Monthly raises might be doable (i.e. 1 additional HSBI per month will certainly add up substantially over time).

I would be interested, but need some clarification- In this case 'curation' means leaving a comment and vote or only voting or commenting, voting and choosing comments for the contests you run? I'd like a bit more detail please 😀

So for this particular job, it's just voting on comments - nothing else.

But, here's the catch: you have to be vigilant to catch every comment on every post, and sometimes comments appear on posts a few days later.

Excellent! I'd like you to do one thing, and this is just to ensure that you can see all of the posts (and thus the comments within).

Please arrange a write-up similar to that of @fc-curation's posts where you list all of the posts created in the community over the course of a day. Make this one for October 25th (or if you see this tomorrow, for the 26th).

Tip: arrange post order by new, and list all the posts written between @hive-140084's daily posts.
