[ESP/ENG] Feria Internacional del Libro de Cuba 2023.

Del 09 al 19 de febrero del presente año se celebra en la capital cubana el evento cultural más importante y masivo del país: La Feria Internacional del Libro. Es un acontecimiento que abraza a todos los rincones del país y que comienza por la Habana y termina en el mes de marzo en la segunda provincia en importancia del país, Santiago de Cuba.

En el 2023 la feria estará dedicada a Colombia como país invitado de honor y a los a cuatro personalidades del mundo de las letras o relacionadas con ellas. Varias actividades están previstas en el programa de la FIL y desde ya en cada uno de los stands las numerosas editoriales participantes desarrollan sus agendas, en aras de cumplir los objetivos propuestos.

Breve historia de la FIL de Cuba.

Han pasado 31 ediciones de este acontecimiento cultural que es la FIL. Es un espacio de creación y una fiesta del saber y la lectura. Mucho tiempo ha pasado, desde que en 1982 se realizó la primera de estas citas y que año tras año ha ido creciendo en número de escritores participantes, ventas de libros y público participante.

Para esta edición vuelven a participar un número importante de países que supera los 40 y que tiene en nuestro continente a la mayor cantidad de países. Importante es la participación mexicana, país al que estuvo dedicada la pasada edición, porque se ha presentado en la feria con un número importante de nuevos títulos y libros para su comercialización.

Este evento tiene la particularidad de dedicar la feria a un país que es el invitado de honor y a personalidades de las letras, la edición, bibliotecarios e historiadores que han recibido el Premio Nacional de su especialidad o que han tenido una trayectoria ejemplar a lo largo de su vida.

En el 2023, Colombia es el país invitado y la feria estará dedicada a los escritores Fina García Marruz, Antonio Núñez Jiménez, la bibliógrafa Araceli García Carranza y al novelista Julio Travieso Serrano quien es además, Premio Nacional de Literatura.

Este autor trabaja en el Instituto de Geología y Paleontología que además, es el Servicio Geológico de Cuba. El área que dirijo se llama Gestión del Conocimiento y dentro de la dirección tenemos la Editorial Centro Nacional de Información Geológica que todos los años participa en la Feria Internacional del Libro y que tiene una fuerte presencia por ser la editorial que se dedica a la publicación de los libros que tienen que ver con las Ciencias de la Tierra.

Como parte de nuestra participación profesional en la feria ayer tuvimos nuestra primera sesión de trabajo en Morro Cabañas e hicimos varias actividades. Entre las más importantes estuvieron la firma de convenios de trabajo con otras editoriales, compra de libros, concertación de un taller, sobre la publicación de artículos y edición de publicaciones digitales.

De igual manera visitamos varios stands con los que tenemos relaciones de trabajo y disfrutamos del programa cultural de la feria.

Varias actividades tenemos en esta feria con dos actividades centrales los días 15 y 16 de febrero y una el día 17. Esperamos poder divulgar por esta comunidad nuestra participación en la FIL.

La lectura constituye una fuente de creación y conocimiento. En tal sentido, la FIL ha sido un espacio fundamental para elevar la cultura de todos nuestros conciudadanos y permitirnos hacer un mega evento como este que atraviesa toda la geografía del país, para llegar a los más recónditos parajes del territorio nacional.

Tenemos varios días para disfrutar de esta fiesta porque más allá de admirar los libros, los nuevos títulos que salen en la feria, esta se convierte en un espacio para disfrutar en familia y educar a nuestros hijos, nietos y personal más joven en el hábito de leer que es la fuente fundamental de alcanzar el conocimiento.

Prologue

From February 9 to 19 of this year, the most important and massive cultural event in the country will be held in the Cuban capital: the International Book Fair. It is an event that embraces all corners of the country and begins in Havana and ends in March in the second most important province of the country, Santiago de Cuba.

In 2023, the fair will be dedicated to Colombia as guest of honor and to four personalities from the world of literature or related to it. Several activities are planned in the FIL program and the numerous participating publishers are already developing their agendas at each of the stands in order to meet the proposed objectives.

Brief history of FIL Cuba.

It has been 31 editions of this cultural event that is the FIL. It is a space for creation and a celebration of knowledge and reading. Much time has passed since the first of these events was held in 1982, and year after year it has grown in the number of participating writers, book sales and participating public.

For this edition, a significant number of countries are once again participating, more than 40, with the largest number of countries in our continent. The participation of Mexico, the country to which the last edition was dedicated, is important because it has presented a significant number of new titles and books for sale at the fair.

The area I direct is called Knowledge Management and within the direction we have the National Center of Geological Information Publishing House that every year participates in the International Book Fair and has a strong presence because it is the publishing house dedicated to the publication of books that have to do with the Earth Sciences.

As part of our professional participation in the fair, yesterday we had our first work session in Morro Cabañas and we carried out several activities. Among the most important were the signing of working agreements with other publishers, the purchase of books, the organization of a workshop on the publication of articles and editing of digital publications.

We also visited several stands with which we have working relationships and enjoyed the cultural program of the fair.

We have several activities in this fair with two central activities on February 15 and 16 and one on February 17. We look forward to spreading the word about our participation in the FIL throughout the community.

Reading is a source of creation and knowledge. In this sense, the FIL has been a fundamental space to raise the culture of all our fellow citizens and allow us to make a mega event like this that crosses the entire geography of the country, to reach the most remote parts of the country.

We have several days to enjoy this party because beyond admiring the books, the new titles that come out at the fair, this becomes a space to enjoy with the family and educate our children, grandchildren and younger people in the habit of reading, which is the fundamental source of knowledge.
