Happy HPUD September 2024!!!
Ahh September, one of my favourite months of the year!
Interesting to note that this is now firmly a month in which I expect to be warm for the most part, I never used to think that way when I was younger!
So a warm HPUD to you all.
In honour of this one I opted for a 200 Hive Power Up, and in total in the month of August I added around 2K HP...
Bringing me up to.... 115 760HP, maybe 120K by year's end...? We shall see!
That's partly a reflection of the lower price of Hive, one earns more when the price is low, and I've been buying dribs and drabs more with these bargain prices!
August on Hive....
The highlight posts have been these two by @azircon and @slobberchops highlighting just how many people in the Dolphin category are milking the Hive cash cow....
Orcas and above are much better at respecting the system they earn from and keeping proportionately more Powered Up.
And I'm firmly in the camp that isn't going to be rewarded people who milk by cashing out the majority of what they earn.
You do you and you I'll do me!
Writing on Hive in August...
I've kept up the usual constants - the Splinterlands Posts, the Running Posts and besides that just the usual social interests posts. I generally use The Week for inspiration and just comment on anything that takes my fancy in that - from government policy to tech, from sport to investments.
But I always keep the HP part Powered Up and buy a little more when the price is low!
Hive bumbling along....
Nothing much has happened in August, really... Hive Fest is around the corner, I'm not going this year, I've got work and fam commitments that week, no money or time for a trip abroad I am afraid.
Besides that Splinterlands is still going, bottomed out hopefully, but we need a market up turn I think to keep the whole thing afloat.
Good to see it is just above that return threshold, but only by around 100k HP.
Hive and HivePud August/ September 2024 Final Thoughts...
Bumbling along I think just about sums it up, I am not going anywhere, and here's to a productive September.....!

Interesting - I took exactly the opposite perspective: just how many are powering up. I found it reassuring, that of the top 2,500 accounts, three-quarters are vested in HIVE, with something like 60% of available HIVE sitting in those wallets. Even with the lower 1,500 accounts, there's still two-thirds of accounts with a KE=<1.
Always good to review where we're investing rewards, although I was surprised this wasn't happening anyway as we've been around this block more than once.
More challenging, I think, is where to invest in smaller and newer accounts - that's where the KE becomes useful, assuming we're looking to diversify and grow the middle-class. Even there, a KE>1 might be because earnings have been powered down and invested elsewhere in the eco-system like Splinterlands or other H-E tokens or moved to HBD through one mechanism or another.
I just think it's a bit rude to post, cash out and not Vest!
50% at least!
Maybe you're more of a glass half full person, 2/3rds of accounts more Vested is pretty good I guess!
I was thinking about it more as an investor - what is the overall trend?
I found it reassuring that there's a steady middle class.
There'll always be high churn among a large number of accounts. Investors/owners of all sizes can decide how they want to respond to that activity with their stake. I'm bemused that this is what is getting attention when the solution is in each account's control. But drama!
I wish @arcange would kick start his stats again, that gave us some regular idea!

Ah that's lovely to see back thank you so much!
Happy hive power up day and I wish you a productive September 🥰🙏
Hi Zeb!
So first of all, happy PUD to you!
I think this debate about who milks the Hive cow will last a while... I agree that at least 50% should be put into HP; then it is definitely different to invest what you earn in the ecosystem so maybe accumulating HBD, buying resources for the various games and similar things.
In any case, I think that in the future, those who are taking out today tomorrow will regret not having accumulated as much as possible... Maybe I'm wrong but I am strongly convinced of it.
I hug you!
Yes fair point, now is a good time to accumulate for sure!
Yes, in fact, right in today's post I planned my change of strategy! ;-)
Nice grinding.
I'm trying to catch you, I'm super close 😉
Best of luck, I hope you do, it's a win-win after all!
Wow, the RP threshold is up again! A few other proposals are now below...
Splinterlands recently bought another 1M Hive so that should help!
Good point! I saw their post too. And they haven't voted yet.
Unless they've proxied... ?
They did... To @steemmonsters. But I realized why it doesn't count. It's less than 30 days since they powered up, and their stake doesn't count for governance yet.
AH OK, shows how out of touch I am!
Congratulations @revisesociology! You received a personal badge!
Participate in the next Power Up Day and try to power-up more HIVE to get a bigger Power-Bee.
May the Hive Power be with you!
