Trying out something new
In my last Aerial yoga class before the holidays my instructor asked me if I would like to try out something different. I said, I was game for it, so she told me we will use the wheel today and do wheel yoga. I have seen people using it but never used it myself. Also from the look of it, I felt it was easy, after all, there is support so it should be easy. When she gave me the wheel, damn it, it was heavy and then I was thinking how was I suppose to manage 1 hour with it all through out in different postures. It was a challenge, and I am always game for challenges, but trust me I regretted it. I should have not, because after this session I have started having back pains and I feel that my sciatica has been disturbed and aggravated.
Then I remembered that 5 years back when I landed in similar situation and it got horrible was due to one of the back bending position Chakrasana where I over did the back bend beyond my capacity. This time when the pain did not subside for a couple of days then I started getting scared, never ever do I want to end up in that situation again. It was a horror for me for 3 months and 1 month was terrible. After that for a few days I stopped everything and gave my back good amount of rest. It is much better now, but still not recovered fully.
With all this mess also, I can say that the class was fun. It was only one of that position which gave me the problem, rest the other positions were fun and strength building. It was like a weight lifting for me.
Some pictures from the session
This looks simple, but the wheel kept slipping so a block was placed for support and then it was a good stretch for my arms and chest.
In this position we did many variations, at first I was not comfortable but then gradually got set with it.
I guess in this particular one I sprained my back :-(
I need to be careful going forward and stop doing these stunts. specially now when in the next few months I have to go for my EBC trek, otherwise I am always ok to take risks and explore new things.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
Never sэ seen such weels in our gym. Are they have the same size or are there different diameters?
It's one size only
It's really unique. I think we should do some warmup before starting any exercise or yoga. Take care
Right, a warm up is required at the beginning of the session, which is compulsory for every session

Those one are bot extreme....but good for those having a bad posture or back pain. Such stretching may help to provide relief.
Ya, it's a good prop for posture correction, but it's better to use it under guidance if we are not aware about the techniques
Wow, wheel yoga. Will have to give it a try when a studio offers it. Honestly though, we underestimate how damaging some of these exercises can be if overdone. I'm more of a gym type and the same applies there too. Overdoing weights, too many reps, wrong posture ... can do so much harm.
Some times I get carried away with my fitness regimes and then I land up in such situation, it was something similar this time also...hehe
Do try out if you get a chance, it's really fun
This is unique
It is good to keep the body fit
Absolutely
Whenever you start having pain in your waist, you should stop your exercise because it can increase the pain even more. There are some things like this, we feel like going to gym but exercise keeps our body fit.
I had to stop it completely for a few days and now the pain is gone so I am getting back to it again
It definitely seems easy looking from the outside but I think trying something new is always good. Yoga postures can be a breeze when our body gets used to them.
Hope you get fully recovered before the EBC trek :)
It is easy but heavy and you take some time to work with it. I tried to be very hasty with it :-)
I feel much better now with the little break
Good to hear that. How long does it take to stay in a particular posture, what's the recommended time?

Wow
Aerial Yoga seem to be fun. It is obvious that you are enjoying it
Nice one!
It is a lot of fun, I am addicted to it
@ nainaztengra, You have used the chakra very well. But I think, this chakra should have been bigger, then you would not have had back pain. Due to the shorter cycle, the spine had to bend more. Very good.
You are right, I too felt the same, the stretch was a little uncomfortable and somewhere the posture went wrong which created the havoc
oohh a wheel for the back is just perfect! I like to put something roundf under my back as well:)
In the beginning it is uncomfortable but then it feels good after a while, I realized that. Yes even I too like a support on my back while sleeping
