It has been a while brother. how is life with you? I agree with the fact that money drives passion. when I was in secondary school I remember that some of us didn't want to become a teacher because many believed there wasn't money in teaching even professors didn't receive much compared to their input. If we are working and the salary or earning doesn't commiserate with the task then someone will easily give up and look for a better opportunity

There's money in the right teaching opportunities. I know people earning a lot from being private teachers. However in the private school sectors owners of schools are exploiting individuals because there aren't jobs anywhere.
It is just the mentality. I work in the Ministry of Education too in Lagos. I agree with you that some private schools don't pay well. Here in Lagos, we have some private schools that pay teachers even more than the government.
