Leng Nei Yi Temple or Wat Mangkorn Kammalawat, the first Chinese temple in Thailand Part II
Apart from great statues of God and Buddha images that I showed you in my previous post, if you go to Leng Nei Yi Temple or Wat Mangkorn Kammalawat or Dragon Temple Kammalawat, you will also see the beautiful architecture of the buildings and magnificent mural paintings in this temple as well. I bet you will enjoy visiting this place, as I did.
This Chinese temple acts as the center of most Thai-Chinese people, especially the ones who live in China Town or Yaowaraj, (the famous shopping zone and well-known as the largest golden market of Thailand), which is not far away from the temple. So, you will see that all of the buildings were constructed in Chinese style. Although this is an ancient temple, it was restored and preserved well.
The building that you saw in the first photo is a school for their monks. It looks great and magnificent, right?
At the top of the roof (in the center) of the building, you will see "Dharmachakra" or Wheel of Dhamma" with a large pink lotus at the base. This is one of the most important symbols of Buddhism.
In the lower level (in the center), you will see the short royal name of His Majesty King Bhumibol, Adulyadej, in the Thai language, and his royal symbol with a red background.
And I believe that the large mural paintings of huge green Mangkorn with an amazing and magnificent head with the blue background in the center of the building can attract your eyes, at first sight, for sure.
The following one is the building that their monks stay in. It's very large and beautiful.
(It's unfortunate that we are not permitted to enter these two buildings.)
In the meantime, I think the main and important building or we call "Ubosod" is the most beautiful building, as you already saw in my previous post.
Not only the building but also the roofs that have marvelous designs.
And on a sunny day like this, these roofs with blue sky and white clouds in the background are much more fantastic.
And following are the roofs at the inside area of the Ubosod with blue sky and white clouds.....
As I told you in my previous post, red and golden colors are believed to be lucky colors and they also represent for good luck and great fortune, in this post, you will further see that this temple is decorated with wonderful things in these two colors almost everywhere.
When you come inside the Ubosod, you can touch the Chinese atmosphere at every corner.
I think you can also feel it via the below corner.
If you love Chinese mural paintings, the ones in this temple will not disappoint you. They are very impressive artworks.
They are also my favorite, so I walked around the Ubosod to admire them closely.
I can say that making merit at this temple can purify or enlighten your minds for happiness and prosperity in life.
In the meantime, I believe that watching the architecture and mural paintings in this temple can relax your eyes as well.
If you visit Bangkok, this temple is highly recommended.
The best way to go to this temple is by Bangkok subway, MRT, and you will stop at the Mangkorn (dragon) station which is very beautiful with Mangkorn mural paintings. I will show photos of them to you in my next post. Please stay tuned. ;)
