Happy Christmas and Thank-You
It's a little late, but as I write this at 06.10am on Boxing Day in Thailand, its still Christmas day in the UK and everywhere West of there!
It started like Christmas day back home, we had a few presents to open that we'd lugged back from the UK. Very nice, except for a box of After Eights I'd been given which had melted, of course, but when stuck in the fridge for an hour became a very pretty brick of mottled dark chocolate and mint fondant. I'll slice it up for tea!
Then it was back to the cleaning and getting ready to welcome our first case of the day.
I still find it very odd here in Thailand, how there are so many Christmas decorations and trees in every public area such as shops and malls but yet the day itself simply passes by normally as any other day would. We had a quiet day workwise, but I spent half the afternoon in a bank renewing my personal accident insurance. It was the usual case for Thailand. Take a simple 10-minute process and then complicate it, screw it up and make it last for an hour. I should have expected no less from the government's own savings bank!
I did, however, get two free calendars with pictures of the King and Queen. No comment.
Afterwards, we went to our favourite little restaurant by the beach to eat only to find it closed. Not because its Christmas, but because many businesses in the provinces still have all, or half day closing on a Wednesday. Back home to the mother-in-law's for tea it is then. Rice again!
This time last year, I was in Scarborough! Cue, excuse to sneak in a couple of Christmas pics from Scarborough I didn't post last Christmas!
And that was it really, except the wife dressed up the cat so he bit her. Thats his Dreamies being rationed for a week!
I just want to wish everyone around the world a most peaceful and healthy...

I keep trying to adjust but its just downright weird here on Christmas day. All the exciting build-up and no climax!
No worries, my supply of English food just turned up in the post so I'm happy!
Hope youve had a lovely week in the snow, take care always and my best wishes to you and hubby :-)
Yes, I fully understand that. So much exciting and than… nothing. 🤔

I got some of those, I'm a little partial to them. Mine are not melted in frozen England though!
Yup, I love anything involving mint and chocolate, especially After Eights but now I just have to work out how to extract the paper envelopes from this mess. Will keep me busy today, I think. I refuse to let go!
Hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas and best wishes to you, fella :-)
😂.. hope you have a good one, rice for xmas dinner!
The cat looks adorable, but yeah, I guess it was not happy with the dressing up process 😆
Happy day to you and yours, @nathen007
Thank you so much, @mipiano. Hope you also had a wonderful Christmas.
It took the wife about 60 continuous shots on her phone to capture that picture. Milo was being crafty though, playing it up for snacks. He will also be on a diet starting 1st Jan !
I think it's usual for countries that don't really do Christmas to hang decorations for the fun of it. I think Thailand might be one of such countries.
As for banks, they're that way all over the world. They probably just wants people to pass through the red tapes rather than just make things easier for their customers

I think you're right. Banks are trying to justify their existence here as almost everyone uses app based electronic payments. That particular bank had 10 staff milling around and only one other customer other than us the whole time we were there. It is the governemnts banks though so they dont care about the waste of money having loads of branches and staff not doing anything!
Hope you're well, mate and having a great week. Take care and best wishes to you :-)
The government banks or institutions are even worse, as they take every opportunity they have to actually make the life of people very difficult.
Thanks a million. Best of wishes to you as well.
