SteemPeak - Update v2.1 - Burn Promotion System Improvements
A new version of SteemPeak is now available. This release contains some changes to the Burm Promotion System and other minor improvements. Please keep in mind that the Burn Promotion System is still in the early stages and other changes can be applied in the coming days or weeks.
The new release is now live at https://steempeak.com
1. Burn Promotion System Improvements
During the past few days we received the first feedback from our users and we decided to do some changes that we hope will make the system much easier to use both for the promoter and the regular users.
This is a short recap of the changes introduced:
1. You can now select up to 5 topics for your promotion. The bonus multiplier used to compute the promotion score will be adjusted according to the number of selected tags:
- 1 tag: x10 bouns
- 2 tags: x8.75 bonus
- 3 tags: x7.5 bonus
- 4 tags: x6.25 bonus
- 5 tags: x5 bonus
2. To promote a post in the general category (visible in all topics) a 20% fee is required
3. A post promoted in the general category will be included in the top 30 posts only if the amount burnt is greater than 10 STEEM
4. Promoted posts can now be dismissed/hidden (similar to what's already available for featured posts)
This is the new Promotion page with the latest updates. Every detail should be included so you can easily know how yours promotion will be evaluated and the expected results.
Also there is now an option to promote your post right from the Publish page (thanks to @cardboard for the suggestion).
2. Better integration with Scobot
The Feed page on the Tribes is now up to date with the latest API available in Scotbot and the load speed of tribes feed should be greatly improved.
This is the new API used to retrieve the feeds for a specific tribe:

3. New Maintenance pages
I've also created some new pages that should be displayed when we are working on SteemPeak and the website is temporary in maintenance mode and not available.
4. Some bug fixes and minor improvements
As always some minor fixes and improvements across the website ;)
Support the @steempeak witness/proposals
Now is probably a nice time to remind you of the ways you can support the development of @steempeak.
Recently we submitted a proposal to the Steem Proposals System (SPS). You can review the proposal here and directly on the proposal page.
If you agree to the proposal and you think the points mentioned add value to Steem consider supporting it using the above links or directly with this link.
We also run a witness server to help produce the blocks for the Steem Blockchain. You can vote for our witness so we are in a position to process more of them.

Thanks to our users for continuous feedback. We hope this is a great Win for everyone.
I'm looking forward to the upcoming Communities features and how this type of system can be used by communities and tokenized communities like Tribes.
You deserve more comments! i will try to show this to steem telegram
I would like to be excited about the upcoming Communities system. However, what I haven't seen anyone sit down and do is to create a description, a walk-through, of what the experience is expected to be like for group administrators who are creating a new Community or the day-to-day usage of those Communities by end users.
I'm not asking for a full wireframe walk-through (though that would be nice), but just a general step-by-step of what the experience is expected to be like would be a huge step forward.
Like I said, I want to be excited. Unfortunately, everything I've seen about Communities appears to be geared toward making them heavily weighted for pay-to-play and pushing people into SMTs rather than being an actual structural improvement to the social media side of the environment first and foremost.
At this point, just having the rough equivalent of Reddit's subReddits would be a vast step forward, as long as they were available to everyone and worked.

I would prefer paying you guys a given amount of SBD that is then your money (or perhaps where a percentage is added to a rewards pool of steempeak users only, and the rest going to you) rather than burning the tokens for promotion.
This is similar to how standard ads systems work. We think that the original idea of promoting posts burning some tokens is not bad at all, it just need to be fine tuned to be actually useful. This is similar to how Scotbot tribes already works (regarding promotions) and will be much better when the Hivemind communities are released.
We require a small fee, but with this system everyone on Steem will benefit from a promotion and hopefully users will not be too disappointed by this alternative to ads.
Yep, and I like that, except that on Steem because of how fast/free/frictionless small transactions are, we could allow for a form of revenue-sharing with more normal users who help contribute to better engagement on the platform, which imo is a massive and disruptive change.
I just would like to see more of the apps/websites/businesses/communities accept SBDs for anything as a service, as a way to slowly but surely build an economy where our currency is accepted for something. Imo, that creates more value to me as a stakeholder than burning does.
this system is designed to work with other interfaces that want to also use it as well. Each interface may do a fee to burn ratio of their own choosing. And each interface may choose to support the other interfaces... for example we are more than willing to support other interfaces that promote based on token burns
You should also incentivize people to burn SBDs in promotions instead of pure STEEM, like giving a
x5
orx10
bonus for those who pay in SBD(just while 1 SBD < 1 USD). This would help decrease SBD inflation and bring back it's parity to USD.
