The Steem News @ 10 March 2020 - Steem/Tron Edition - A Stalemate, an Apology, a Dialogue and a new Blockchain...
Steem, Tron. Steem, Tron. Steem, Tron. Stalemate reached.
But there's been a powerdown, and an apology.
There's been open discussions, and there's been closed discussions, and tomorrow there will be a 4 way dialogue.
And there might be another Town Hall with Justin Sun, and there might be another Blockchain with @Theoretical.
Top 20 Stalemate
The Top 20 Witness makeup seems to have reached an impasse .
Despite a continual flow of votes in and out, a 9 - 11 split has remained in place for the past day or so.
The 'original' Steem witnesses are holding on to slots 1 - 8 through respectively @blocktrades, @good-karma, @roelandp, @anyx, @ausbitbank, @yabapmatt, @someguy123, and @gtg, and @themarkymark is sitting at #10. Previous top 20 occupant @steempress has dropped down to #27.
The other 11 places in the top 20 are being held by the Tron backed witnesses.
Neither side has the required super-majority of 17 to push through a hard fork...
Binance Powerdown and Apology
Binance has now started a full power down as promised on Twitter by CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ), and as reported by @themarkymark amongst others...
Not long after this the Binance Team issued an apology to Steem...
We sincerely apologize for the recent situation involving STEEM, which stemmed from miscommunication about the specifics of the blockchain’s upgrade/hard fork. After receiving the feedback from the STEEM community, we have unvoted.
Binance stays neutral and has no interest in on-chain governance beyond the Binance ecosystem. We hold a supportive position of normal upgrade/hard fork and will continue to do so in the future.
@glory7 has posted a commentary on the apology letter...

The meeting will be hosted by @jayplayco....
The meeting is scheduled to take place on 11 March at 10am EST / 2pm UTC / 11pm KST.
The Steem Foundation will be represented by @guiltyparties, and it is understood the previous witnesses will be represented by @roelandp.
In response to the invitation from the Korean community @roelandp posted this 'Vision for Steem's future (roadmap)' signed by a number of the leading witnesses...
In further preparation for this meeting @glory7 is posting with ideas to address specific issues, the second of these posts covers power downs and down voting...
A New Blockchain...
@theoretical is a blockchain designer. He worked at Steemit Inc until the redundancies in December 2018.
He has been silent on the chain for some time but has now announced he is working on a new blockchain learning from the mistakes of the Steem experiment...

Once again a good wrap up of the Steem and Tron happenings. You were missed today on the Steemit Pile show.
Thanks @sgt-dan
Hi @pennsif
Without your updates, we wouldn't have brought the important news about Steem witnesses, TRON and STEEM,
Thank you for doing the great job
Glad I can provide a useful service. Thank you.
A lot of posts and developments I have missed. Partly because we are currently experiencing power outages. Up to 7-odd hours a day in 2,5 hour slots, so when it's on 3d life takes priority.
That said, and as I have said elsewhere, this is a war of attrition and the momentum is dropping. This helps to maintain it and keeps us on our toes
Is there any sign that the load-shedding will finish soon? Is it getting worse?
Actually, it's up and down. In the last 2 days we've been from Stage 4 to 3 then to 4 then to 2. Right now we're on 1. The powers that be have told us to expect loadshedding for the next 18 months. Since there's been a change in the guard as it were and they're cleaning house (too many cliches), I am happier to put up with it. There's a bit more candour when there's a breakdown and a commitment to actually stabilising and improving the system. Of course, the economic impact of Covid-18 might mean that demand reduces and they get it sorted quicker. I have to find an up-side in all of this....
Thanks for asking.
Hope it all sorts out soon.
Thank you!
good article
keep us on the recent updates
THanks
ALWAYS a good, reasoned look at the Steem news.
Thanks for these updates.
You're welcome.
Great update. Thanks for doing the digging.

As most of our community do not read or speak Korean, we don't have any idea about what @glory7 is talking about powerdowns and downvoting.

Try Google Translate - that will give a good approximation.
Great bundle of all important Steem information and posts; You even included my latest post around the topic of the Steem/TRON drama we are in. Thanks for noticing that one! :)
You're welcome.
Congratulations @pennsif!
