2020: Foggy beginning / Nebliger Anfang

For me, the new year started pretty foggy.

Für mich hat das neue Jahr ziemlich benebelt angefangen.

But it wasn't me who was foggy, but the area around the reservoir. As so often I went for a walk there on January 1st in the early morning and hoped for a nice sunrise on the first day of the new year. Unfortunately, the fog thwarted my expectations and didn't let a single ray of sunshine pass through.

Aber nicht ich war benebelt, sondern die Gegend am Stausee. Wie so oft bin ich dort auch am 1. Jänner am frühen Morgen spazieren gegangen und hatte auf einen schönen Sonnenaufgang am ersten Tag des neuen Jahres gehofft. Leider hat mir der Nebel einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht und keinen einzigen Sonnenstrahl durchgelassen.

When I took the photos it was just before sunrise and it was still quite dark.

I then continued my drive after my walk and when I was over the fog I could still see subtle morning colors.

Als ich die Fotos gemacht habe, war es kurz vor Sonnenaufgang und noch ziemlich dunkel gewesen.

Ich bin dann nach meinem Spaziergang weitergefahren und als ich über dem Nebel war, konnte ich dann doch noch leichte morgendliche Farben erkennen.

You say it and I just imagine what that must look like 😉
I have never seen the actual building, but as far as I know it is a prison for light crimes, where there is also a farm and the prisoners can work there.

Yes, the road which I used then goes up a hill and this hill is high enough to be above the fog.

Haha, ein Nebelhorn wäre nicht gut, denn vielleicht würde einer der Fischer, die dort hin und wieder am Ufer sitzen und fischen, vor Schreck ins Wasser fallen und dadurch die noch im Halbschlaf herumschwimmenden Schwäne und die Biber zu Tode erschrecken, und das will ich eigentlich nicht ... die Fischer wären mir aber egal, denn die werden ja wohl schwimmen können ;) lol

So isses - hätte aber nicht wirklich passieren können, weil auf der Seite, wo ich immer gehe, ist fast nie ein Fischer und so früh am Morgen habe ich überhaupt noch nie jemanden gesehen ;)

No snow is here and the weather forecast tells about beautiful weather for the next days. So, I will need the !BEER to feel better, because without snow I feel so very !DERANGED in Winter, and maybe the golden !MARLIANS can help me feeling better too ;)

Last Winter we have had many foggy morning like on these photos, but this Winter it was the first time with such fog.

Yesterday or the day before i forget we had a real foggy day could barely see out the window of our place,

in days of old there was !COFFEEA and !BEER, but no internet of cell phones, nor a !MARLIANS !shop the kids of today would think that was quite !DERANGED

When I drive to work I partly drive along the lake where the fog is sometimes as dense as you have told. I don't like it when I drive a car, but I like it very much when I am for a walk, especially in the woods.

The future is not good, this is the reality.
Whenever I drink !COFFEEA in !shop, thinking that the future after the fog is bright,
but, For decades, whenever I move forward, I find it getting worse.
future often are !DERANGED !MARLIANS,
this is the reality.
I can only drink !BEER to dispel my troubles.

Oh, that sounds not very optimistic. I always try to be as optimistic as possible and I always believe that behind the fog the sun is shining, just like I found the sunshine above the fog. Thinking optimistic even on the darkest days could always make you feel better.
If the future is not good you should try anything to make it good ;)

I mean life experience,
Imagining the future is wonderful, often disappointed, and can only drink !BEER to eliminate troubles, and even !DERANGED
So don't hold good ideas for the future. If you hold the future are miserable, then you can still go to the !shop at that time, thinking about life like this !COFFEEA, bitter and sweet.

Bei den Preisen, die diese Token derzeit haben, ist es ein sehr mieser Stundenlohn für die Tipserei, aber es geht ja auch beziehungsweise um den Spaß und ich will ja auch nicht verkaufen, sondern ich warte, bis es sich lohnt ... oder bis ich so alt bin, dass ich nicht mehr mit der Maus umgehen kann oder meine Pfleger im Altersheim mir keinen PC mehr erlauben ;)

When it's raining the tree will grow and make it harder for you to get rid of it ;)

I assume the rain is good for the country and after it the sun will shine again, but 27C in winter is too much. When it's so very hot you cannot work so hard on the tree stump neither.

Right, it is cold now, we have frost and all we need now would be some snow. There is also not very much on the mountains yet, at least not as much as should be there at this time. But it will come and then we will pray for the sun to melt it ;)

Today it was warm and we had about 7C/ 33F but in the past days it was much about -6C or even colder.
In cold winters we have had as low temperatures as about -15C in town.

That still isn't too bad but it's getting darn cold. When I was working outside I didn't think it was too bad until it got under 10F which would be -12C, then I hated it!

Yes, when it's too cold everything freezes and people have problems with their cars which might not start because of the cold. I don't mind the cold as long as I have the right clothes, but if I can choose, I'd prefer it to be comfortably warm 🙂

I have no idea what a typical Austrian is, because we all are so different. We Carinthians are different from our neighbor state Styria, where Arnold comes from, and of course we are different from the people in the other 7 states too. The people are different from valley.
So, I have no idea how the typical Austrian looks or acts like, but all real Austrian are moaning about everything and at any time. That's one thing that's typical Austrian: moaning 😉

I use it all the time, whenever there's a little calculation involved I use Excel. There are also free versions of such a software around (e.g. Google or Open Office), but I do prefer the Original ;)

They look all pretty much the same and the usage is the same. It's just that I am used to Microsoft software since my first computer which I have bought in the beginning of the nineties.

Well, I remember AOL and CompuServe, but getting online was not easy in these ancient times. I could either plug in the telephone or the computer modem, but both together didn't work.
And my modem made a long distance call to Paris in France if I remember right, what made my monthly telephone bill the highest bill of all these days.

But fortunately after a while we have got an Internet Service Provider in town, what has made it not easier or faster, but cheaper ;)

My phone does not support 5G and I use it mainly for phone calls. I don't like to type on that small screen and don't do it if I don't have to ;)
My internet speed at home is fast enough for me I think.
