Struggling to find much to get excited about, like every other voter...?
The thing about this year's 2024 general election is that it's just so unremarkable!
I mean unremarkable in terms of what either The Conservatives or Labour are offering...
Both manifestos are VERY similar in terms of goals, although there are some differences in how to achieve those goals.
And then most of their 'big policies' are only affecting relatively small sections of the population, there's not a lot in there for any particular 'class' of people, certainly not a lot of new policies for all of us.
The Lib Dems and Greens have some more interesting, radical policies, but that's the luxury allowed those parties who have no chance of winning!
No room for big economic changes...
Neither party can cut or raise income tax, NI or VAT, we're pretty much at the upper limit of what people will accept and the lower limit of what we need to keep public services at a sub-par level.
So both parties are struggling here - both are saying they are going to sting the non-doms and the tax dodgers, but the amount they hope to raise just about covers their commitments, if they're lucky.
Labour's main commitment is 'economic stability'.
NB this is actually something they can't promise. While the Torys have been blamed for economic mismanagement they didn't cause Covid or the Ukraine war which spiked inflation, and it's unlikely we'll get through another five years without a similar global level crisis, which will tip us back into economic instability.
The Conservative Plans also depend on a similar unlikely scenario that there will no crisees over the next five years.
It's all very tentative.... hanging by a thread in both cases.
Probably why other commitments are so weak...
Honestly there is nothing really major - more housebuilding, the same from both parties, tougher on migration, similar goals, different methods.
There are differences, labour charging VAT on school fees for private schools, the Tories cutting NI for 4M self-employed, and a few other bits and peices.
OK Labour seem to promise more longer term and green investment, which I like, but this isn't planned, it's vague, and I can see a lot of this money getting wasted.
Labour - a vote for small change..?
I mean things will be different under labour, but we're talking about like a 2% tweak to the national finances, if that!
It's hardly gonna be the kind of kick starting we need to see us into the next 20 years!
Also, nothing on the ageing population and how to deal with social care, other than an £80K cap, so committing the state to paying more, with literally NO PLAN for how to pay for something we can't afford ATM!

The economic stability for all especially the people with less resources would be great if really implented by any of them.
If it were a goal they cld actually promise!
Things look very bleak in the UK, and not just the weather! I would advise young people to get out and run as far away as possible!
Cld be an idea but where are they gonna go...? !
Lots of places, the world is out there.
It sad that the election choices aren't offering much change. Economic stability is crucial, especially for those with fewer resources.
Whoever gets in has a mess to sort out. Times are tough, but we have to protect those who actually need help. The rich are not really suffering.
I'm not seeing many posters around here. I wonder what the turnout will be.
I guess yr not in a marginal seat...?
Not really, but there could be surprises.
