Maesi's sterilization appointment

Maesi was getting into heat soon

Although not 6 months old yet, she became very loud and affectionate the last month and we didn't want to risk Maesi getting into heat and causing us sleepless nights for 1,5 weeks or so. Therefore I asked the vet for advise and she said I'd help her with 5 months. We made the appointment and last Thursday was the day.

Without any issues, we managed to put her in the carrier, not knowing what was going to happen soon. As soon as we dropped her off, they took her into another room and she became very loud and in distress immediately, poor thing.

All went well

We received a phone call from the vet's assistant that everything went well and we could pick her up three hours later. Upon arrival she was still in the nursery so we had to wait a little. She had a plastic cone on her head, and we had to wait in the other room where she immediately figured out how to get her paw in between the cone and her neck. This resulted in her taking off the cone within just minutes time. Sigh, sometimes it's so annoying to have a smart cat, lol.

Taking her home

She was very restless and didn't fancy being there at all. I said I'd put on the cone at home as I bought one online a few weeks ago. It's made from felt and I had the idea it's smaller than the one they put on.

I was right, it fitted well, but smart little Maesi was not going to rest until she mastered the skill of taking off the cone. She fell asleep with her paws locked on the cone and 15 minutes later it was off, lol.

Time to rest, lol..

Too bad Luna was acting very bitchy when she came home and we had to separate them for about a day completely to avoid Maesi's wound getting ripped open as Luna was being very mean. Maesi had to be watched constantly especially as putting the cone on was not going to work. Instead we told her to be careful every time she tried pulling the stitches, which she seemed to understand, thankfully.

Healing great

The wound looks great and we're about to head to the vet to have her check up. I don't foresee any issues though, just a random check up for the wound. Right now we can leave them together again as they are behaving and Maesi already went back to her old self a few days ago, tough cookie!

Luna's next

Now that Luna is becoming more loud as well, I'm trying to get her scheduled in a week or 2 from now, so that we have them sorted. Right now it's still summer holidays so it's great to have 3 sets of eyes on the cats instead of just 2, lol. I predict Luna is going to be very miserable though, as she's not such a tough cookie as Maesi, but we'll see.

Up to the vet!

Beautiful your kitty. I look forward to his speedy recovery.
By the way that protection collar that you have put on him is very nice. 🤍🥹💐

What a cute little cat! The cones are definitely prettier than the opaque plastic ones, but sounds like she managed to get it off pretty quickly! The important thing is the wound is healing up nicely. I wonder why Luna was in such a bad mood? It's her turn next!

How are you doing?

Hi there, sorry for not getting back to other comments as I've been focussed on things outside hive the past days. Nothing personal!

Haha I wanted her to wear that cone just for a few minutes to take a picture but it was not as I imagined, poor thing hated the dots especially. Thankfully it cost me just 0.80 or something.

Luna probably smelled the other cats and also the "hospital" "doctor" smell I suspect. She was not sniffing first though, she immediately attacked her. Maybe she was pissed of at her for leaving most of the day? No clue. They are fine now though.

I bet Luna will be very sad and drowning in her misery when she is helped. She's not such a tough cookie as Maesi. But she may also prove me wrong.. (I hope)

Have not made any freaking progress with the scans, nope, had to cancel my appointment tomorrow because none of these clinics (all 20-30 min drive min) will answer the phone and I can't possible get my boyfriend to drive me there during the day to make the appointment.

I will just let it be for another day because it's distracting me from what I want to do. Pain is under control now, once these tablets run out I will move back to the ones the trauma doc gave me and hope it's ok for the time being.

How are you holding up?

Animals are funny creatures! The cone was cute though! Too bad they're dragging out the scan, but as long the pain is under control for now that's a huge plus.

It's nice when people pick up phone calls especially when it's a business. It's a long way to drive just to talk to someone. It's too bad they aren't more help! Hopefully that back will calm down with the old meds.

I'm doing ok, had an arthritis flare up which was strange just like the one after the vaccine. Oh well, life goes on! Pills should calm it down, I hope...

Oh man it's such a pain here in Spain. I think I could drive there myself in a few days to get an appointment but honestly I think it's just madness that I have to do that, costs me extra fuel for nothing. And not the most fun drive either, mainly greenhouses and those reflect like crazy so I prefer to just go there once only for the scan. Let's see though.

As long as I'm not in a lot of pain and taking it easy with my back, I can wait.
The email and phone response, or actually lack of it here is quite common and the locals really don't seem to care..

OH man you said that response after the vax was bad, that sucks if you had another one of these. What kind of pills do you have to help with these symptoms?

I hope you'll be back to normal soon!
