Hello dear Market Friday community, I don't usually go out and take pictures, but since I was invited to this beautiful community I have to say that when Friday arrives it makes me want to post or see the posts in this community.
This will be a pretty interesting post because I will be commenting how it was to go to a supermarket and buy different things and also I will comment the prices so you can make your own comparisons, but that will not be the only thing that makes this post relevant, also the fact that I want it to be a post only in English and also that I am doing it, being two things that I have never done for a post.
First of all I have to comment that I am from Venezuela, so the prices that you will be seeing are the prices of the products, I hope you comment me which are the prices of these products in your country.
To start with this tour I have to show you some shots I took on the way to the supermarket.

This is a school where my friend @therealflaws was studying. He was with me on this walk.
After a 10 minute walk we arrived at the supermarket called "Rio".
To show a little of this supermarket, I am going to show you the different divisions that this place has.

The area where all the meats and cheeses are.
Very important, the drunkard's favorite zone.
Now it's time to talk about the prices of some of the things I bought.
A large bar of chocolate worth $2.00
Same price as a half pack of eggs (15 eggs).
The price of a two liter pepsi soda was $1.60.
A jar of melted chocolate that cost $2.15.
And I also want to show how many sauces were on this shelf.
I bought a very delicious sauce that had pickles in it.
After that we went home because it was getting pretty late.
With this I say goodbye to my post, not without mentioning that all the pictures were taken by me and some were edited with photoshop.

You said the price was in your native money. (Bolivars?) Yes, I think this was US dollars. Is that correct? I would have to say that the prices actually compare to my prices here in the Washington, DC area. I guess that really surprised me. I didn't realize that we are that inexpensive or perhaps you are just expensive, except for the eggs. I buy organic so they are more expensive, the regular eggs are still more expensive than yours. About $4.00 for regular eggs.
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. The currency of my country is not the dollar, it is a currency called Bolivares, but what happens is that the currency is at a very high point of inflation that talking about bolivares we would be talking about a dollar equivalent to 25 million bolivares, so to simplify things they put the price to what is equivalent in U.S. dollars, which is a very commercial currency here.
The problem in Venezuela is that the minimum wage is almost 5 dollars, so it is not enough for much.
I thought you had said the prices were in your counties currency, that is why I asked. I actually do know the are sometimes priced in dollars and sometimes bolivars.
Their wage is a huge problem!
Yes, I think I failed to clarify the issue of currencies and how markets work with two different currencies, but there are times when it is very complicated to explain this.
The only people who have good salaries are people who work for private companies or for companies in other countries.
I agree, it is complicated and I wasnt criticising your pist by any means.
Venezuela is in a ver precarious situation. The people deserve better after all these years!
