The Alternate Hypothesis - A #philosophicalshitpost

(Edited)

It has been a long time since I have felt this blank trying to write a post. I've had the blank page open in front of me for a couple of hours and these are the first lines that I've typed!

I am not sure if "blank" is the right choice of word here. I actually have a few topics playing around inside the confines of my skull -

  1. A theory post on the Harry Potter series
  2. Thoughts on the Deathly Hallows book
  3. 4 books I just ordered (a couple of those have been on my list for nearly 2 years - no kidding)
  4. A final review on Legend of the Blue Sea (yeah, my wife and I binge watched the last 9 episodes with only one left for tonight)

...eh? Turns out I am turning this post into a checklist of future posts to come on my blog, sweet(?)

See why gifs are awesome?! 👆 I spoke about the need of adding it to the new leofinance UI for Threads.

....back to my original Rant!

As I was saying, being "blank" is not the problem. It's quite the opposite maybe - I have too many options to choose from and that is distracting my concentration. I am not focusing on one single topic. I am probably trying to write all the posts in my head all at once and creating a traffic jam that could rival that of the jam in Dhaka on a Thursday evening!

The "alternate hypothesis" however is much simpler - I am just being a lazy bum. I have written relentlessly this month. When I first embarked on the journey to writing a post everyday, I was writing a couple of random, meaningless posts almost every week. This month however, almost every post I have written, I have had a set topic in mind. I couldn't just let my mind wander off and let my fingers do the writing. And it gets tiring, honestly. The mind screams for a break.

While it is necessary to write consistently and maintain a relatively constant degree of quality of the posts, it is equally important to let the mind off the leash once in a while to prevent mental fatigue and burnout. And not many users on the chain know the consequences of fatigue and burnout on progress here (*coughs "no posts for more than a year, multiple times" *coughs) as I do.

So there you go "mind," here's your #philosophicalshitpost

I can sympathize with you in a way. Over the years, I have discussed ad nauseum on topics that interested me on various platforms. No matter what you research and write, it is impossible to change peoples opinions and you can see that things are only getting worse. At what point do you say, "Point me to closest deserted tropical island!" and "Let me lie in a hammock sipping incomprehensible concoctions of slightly intoxicating tropical fruit juices and being accidentally brained by falling coconuts!"

😂...Yes really sweet and I definitely loved this.

I'll have to say I vote for a theory post on the Harry Potter series.. That's definitely something I'd love to read.

Oh yes, the Harry Potter theory post will definitely come - I'm just trying to gather as much evidence as I possibly can to make it a good one!

Writers block is quite tricky to deal with! I’ve had it from time to time and I also get it when I’m not in a good mood so I just don’t write and leave it be. Sometimes that’s best!
