Change of scenery

I spend the first days of June at my grandmother's house. It is on the same island (Crete) about 100 km to the west from my home. One can say that it is very similar to the place I live. In both places there are olive groves and vineyards and after all it is on the same island, but it just isn't the same :)

So when I went for a walk out of the village I took a few pictures with the eyes of the newcomer! Of course I have been there a lot of times and I have seen all that before but now that I live to a different part of the island and I am a farmer myself I see it quite different than the era that I was living in the city and visited Crete only in my vacations.

In contradiction to my region, farming here is very intense, tractors and grain production are very common and the uncultivated land is practically non-existent! A big change of scenery for myself that I live the last 7 years to the most remote and preserved part of the island where most of the farming is based on human labor and most of the land has been rewilded.

As a photographer I appreciated the symmetry and clear lines of the "professional" farming practices but I as a farmer I can't see myself working that way!

And of course if you look a little closer you can see that nature will always find some space to demonstrate its glory!

Oh wow what a beautiful place to live! I have only been to Crete to Chania but I remember thinking how I'd live here happily.

The hills are dotted with Vineyards and Olives, reminds me of a place in Spain I stayed as well near Malaga.

Thank for sharing

Beauty everywhere, at every scale.
I loved this phrase:
