Weekend At The Top Of The Mountain

It's hard to believe that five months passed since this trip, but the photos are testimony for that. I wanted to post about it, but kept postponing it, till now.

Our Traveling.jpg

It's never too late and going through these photos now, when the outside temperature is close to 0°C, made me want to go back in time and relive those moments again.

This is how the whole trip started, one nice Saturday morning, when we were invited to the mountains to take part of a very large family gathering. When I say top of the mountain, I really mean it and the can-am is testimony to that as you don't have many options, apart from this beauty and powerful 4x4s. We left the cars in the parking lot near the road and continued with the can-am.

Escaping the heat of the city is always a blessing, especially when the escape results in fresh, mountain air, coupled with beautiful nature and quiet. This was my dream for quite some time, but work always gets in the way, so this family reunion was the excuse to finally escape the madness.

Sitting on those wooden benches, looking at what nature has to offer while not thinking of anything else is priceless. It is not just relaxing, but therapeutic as well and if you don't believe me, I encourage you to try it out. This is called back to simple life and in my opinion, everyone should do it to get some balance back, recharge their batteries and start fresh.

I was sitting there, looking at the valley, looking at the pines and thinking these trees don't care about what time or what day it is. They don't care about who's prime minister, or when your utility bills are due. They don't have any worry about the world.

But is that true? No, it is not. They have their own worries, like the weather, the climate, insects harming them, bad people harming them and most of the times they can't even defend themselves or get out of harm's way.

20240713_132328a.JPG

This is something only those can appreciate who don't have it. No offense, but those who have it, find it normal to have it. Those who don't have it are longing for such a fireplace, where the food you cook or bake has a totally different taste. It tastes like "real", if you know what I mean.

20240713_134737a.JPG

This is grilled minced meat, traditional in my country and everyone loves it. You can make it at home, but you're never going to get the taste you get here.

20240713_135851a.JPG

Priceless moments, I can tell you that.

20240713_141700a.JPG

To make you drooling, these are fresh baked buns and on the next photo you will see what was served.

20240713_142906a.JPG

20240713_143013a.JPG

Lamb burger with this grilled minced meat. My initial plan was to make you drooling, but I think this has a boomerang effect as I'm drooling too :) God, I wish I could go back and relive those two days. The food was heavenly good by the way.

20240713_154552a.JPG

Watermelon after lunch? Anyone? This is the real one, not the plastic version you can buy at the supermarket :)

20240714_122429a.JPG

There's no mountain party without goulash and this traditional dish is the best made in cauldron. I was just helping here, I wasn't the chef, but it was exciting to cook for 16 people. Imagine, some of them were from another country and have never had a traditional goulash.

20240714_131946a.JPG

We had a loyal guardian, who was sitting in front of the fire the whole time, enjoying the smell of the food. He got a portion too, so no worries :)

20240713_142518a.jpg

Do you know what this thing is called? Guilty pleasure 😂 I love home baked bread and this was heavenly good. It wasn't cheap, but some things worth a lot.

20240713_202947a.JPG

After a good meal what can be better than a gin tonic, especially on a hot July day. I tried to take a nice photo, but I don't think I succeeded.

20240713_211847a.JPG

Light dinner? Is this light at all? :D Chicken, grilled cheese and two types of salad, one of which is sweet corn, my absolute favorite.

I was hoping we could go for a long walk, but was told that was a dangerous area. Unfortunately my country has a large population of bears roaming around and everywhere you go, you bump into them.

20240713_191230a.JPG

So we stayed "inside", if you can call the huge green area "inside" and played with these two beauties.

20240713_191342a.JPG

How can you resist them? Cuteness at the highest level, in my opinion.

20240713_224149a.JPG

We had a big fire at the evening, which is quite unique as you can't just make a fire anywhere these days.

20240713_140056a.JPG

Last, but not least, have you ever sit on a chair like this? I have and trust me, contrary to what you believe, it is comfortable.

I'm going to finish my post with this photo, which means a lot to me. I hope you can see the tranquility this place means.

Your post does two things. First, makes me miss the warmer weather and outdoor actuvity. Hey in February, I'm leaving the cold going to Las Vegas that will ne nice. Oh second you got me hungry. Oh the flavor of meat with the open fire fueled by wood. Yes, a different and in my opionion a better taste 😋

And I thought my post makes you miss me 😆

Ok, jokes aside, I understand what you mean as since yesterday, I can't take these photos out of my head and remember those two days like it was yesterday. I would go back in a split second.

Whoops I forgot the obvious, that's certainly another reason friend. You appealed to two of my senses (hunger & warmth) that affected my thought process😆 ❤️

I had planned to go out on vacation and go camping this year, neither happened. I treasure the year before when I did much more.I did get quite a bit of fishing in this year though 😃 With winter the day light hours are shorter and things like the time you had are missed and lo9ked foward to again 😁

Oh BTW it came across my mind late a few weeks ago about the pumpkin decorating contest. You remember? Haha

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get to go camping, but look at the bright side, you got to spend time with your son and do other things.

Yes, the pumpkin contest. I didn't forget, trust me, but I was really busy, couldn't visit my dad during that period. He got a huge pumpkin from his neighbor and donated it to a restaurant, for the pumpkin festival. I still need to post those photos 😄
God, so many things to do.

Did you decorate pumpkins this year?

I got incredibly busy this past year myself, especially during fall. No time for pumpkin decorating and I wanted to get out and share a fall experience but just no time. But yes your right still had some great things happen 😃

Oh my I am so envious of what you did there at the mountain! The food - ah yes so deliciously looking! Don’t worry I got hungry thinking of how appetizing that was!
I was actually hoping you also did some smores while doing the fire 😅

Hahaha, payback time dear Witty!!! How many times I got hungry just by looking at your posts 😂

smores - no offense, but ... you can chase me out of this world with that 😁
I don't understand why people like it.

That was surely a fun trip, not only you enjoy the nature sitting in a cool chair made from wood but also there's a lot of food trip too, and with those delicious, homemade foods. Even I will wish to go back to that time to experience the joy I experienced in that very moment. And the doggo, they are so adorable, and they really allow people to pet them. They surely used to the people doing that to them no ☺️☺️💓

These two cuties were huge, believe me when I say that. Huge. So when you first see them, the first reaction is "Oh boy" and you get scared. But they were super friendly, always following us and looking for attention. Best dogs ever!
