Lake Louise Activities

DSC06442.jpeg

One of the more popular lake activities in the Canadian Rockies is canoeing. Kayaking is also somewhat popular, but not as much as canoeing. Canoeing at Lake Louise is a cash cow, I’m sure. Check out all the people lined up to spend $130/hour to paddle around the lake! Pricey as it is, I would recommend trying it at least once in your lifetime. On a nice sunny day, the views from mid lake are phenomenal. As much as I enjoy canoeing, hiking is more my thing (Plus I didn't need to drop $130 on a rental). Another somewhat popular thing to do around here is the horseback riding. I have not checked into the pricing for this, but I’m sure it is probably more than the canoeing. On some of the nearby trails, they are shared with the horses, which can make make things somewhat icky at times. Horseback riding or canoeing, which do you prefer?

as usual, some very beautiful scenic shots are clearly visible there, your first photo for me is such a perfect view and also photos of mountain views are no less interesting

What great pictures. I would love to sail on that lake. Horses are nice but, I think I'm like the Sherlock Holmes movie script, I can't stand anything moving between my legs.
By the way, can you fish there?

No fishing allowed at this location, but canoeing yes. It is a fairly controlled area.

Always great pics of these places Daveks, I get to enjoy them first hand living near them but I appreciate all your captures. I often fid myself in the mountains for a day and don't take a single picture.. LOL

I would prefer to ride in a canoe than on a horse back, anytime, anyday. The few times I rode in a canoe, I had this cool feeling of levitating in the air.... Hahahaha, and it's cheap over here, I think about $5. Though not as beautiful and green as this 'showstopper'.

I’m with you on that. Although horseback riding can be fun to do once or twice in a lifetime anyways.

If you make the color shots a little more saturated, it will be great.

I am not surprised that people queue up to canoe and also ready to pay quite a price for it. When it comes to enjoying life, I do it heartily because it has no duplicate copy.
If I were to be there, I wouldn't miss canoeing in this turquoise waters.

Yeah, no suprise. If someone can spend several thousand dollars to travel here, then only a small price to pay for canoeing.

Wow 130 $ is too expensive, but i guess the prices gets divided between all the persons on board isn't it ?

My son would vote for jet ski, although he does like his paddleboard like shown in your shot. I never tried a canoe, but they seemed to be more tipsy than a kayak. I vote for kayak. Now there are paddle varieties and petal ones. The Hobie Cat even pairs a kayak with a sail!

I figured the kayak would be more tipsy than a canoe, but have yet to do any comparison. All in all, hiking is my usual go to activity.
