A blast from the past...

As I am a Amazon prime member, I take advantage of their unlimited photo storage, I have 100's of gigabytes of images uploaded and really need to delete some, however, I get reminders of dates and photoshoots from the past, and when this one came up, I just had to share with you.

Myself, @richgaynor and one of my other mates wanted to photograph the milkyway, so we headed over to Surprise View in the Peak District as this is probably one of the more known milkyway spots near to where we live.

We arrived before the sunset so we could scope out the place, work out where the milkyway would be and get everything ready for the shoot.

The views up here are epic, although we had to watch where we stood, especially as the sun set due to the rather large drops nearby.

We found our pog and began to hang around, patiently waiting for the milway to show. Thank fully, I was (and still use) and app called Star Walk, this gave us an idea of just how long we had to wait.

As I started doing some test shots, I shouted to my mates "I've got it!!", the faintest sign of the milkway core just starting to appear on the preview images.
As I did that, it was all hands on deck, as we must have shot hundreds of images between us, this was our first milkyway shoot and so we were a bit unsure as to how the final images would turn out.

Finally, we got an image, there is still some light pollution out there, as you get the lights from both Sheffield and Manchester etc, but it is still dark enough to get some milkyway shots.

I wanted to do a shot with my new headtorch, so this was a little self portrait, I do like the lighting on the above shot, although I'm not sure who's idea it was to put a green light under the rock.

Then, Rich decided he wanted to do a shot in the buff, I'm like "why do you want to do it?", he just said he wanted, so off he went with my torch, I'm not going to tell you where he put the battery, but he still owes me a new one.

What surprised me most about these images, is that I remember them like yesterday, and it only seems like a couple of years ago at the most, when these images were shot, but in reality, this was 7 years ago.

As Ferris Bueller once said "Life proves pretty fast, if you don't stop once in a while, you could miss it!", there's certainly never been a truer word said.

All images were shot with a Canon EOS-60D, with a f2.8 sigma fisheye, and probably some other lenses that I can't remember what I had back then lol.
