A journey into the past, a very distant past.

Opening the doors of time and visiting some of them very far away makes us appreciate history.

I love these trips I make when I visit museums, not only for the learning that comes with it, but also for the opportunity that these places give all people to observe what other times were like.

Pieces of life and history unearthed in forgotten places, others found by chance under future constructions, and all of them under the supervision of expert people in order to repair or restore as much as possible these valuable objects.

They may not have an important monetary value, if they are equivalent to gold or silver, but they have an ancestral value that is always important to rescue.

This area of Spain has been inhabited by many peoples, many feet and experiences have passed through these lands and today it is a mixture of many cultures.

History always speaks for itself and visiting the Phoenician archaeological museum took me back in time thousands of years.

Every item in the museum was worth a closer look, from the huge pots, although many of them were missing parts, and have been restored as much as possible, to the utensils used in everyday life.

Throughout the tour, different stages of the history of the Phoenicians in this land are shown, as well as their diverse activities such as fishing, hunting and the importance of the funeral theme.

The restoration process must have been very arduous, I imagine that specialists in the field had to reconstruct each of these items.

The whole subject and process and the dedication involved is fascinating.

I talked a lot about this with the museum guide while I was on the tour and she was also impressed by the fantastic work and the great knowledge of periods, history and art that you have to have.

That's why each piece deserves your attention, because behind each one there was someone who discovered it, someone who restored it and a profound work with a lot of wisdom.

Many of these archaeological finds have been made in caves, some very famous and others found accidentally. That moment of discovery and being there must have been amazing, if I put myself in the shoes of those people who do it.

This museum is open to the public and this room is entirely dedicated to Phoenician archaeology. It is a huge room, where everything is properly arranged in showcases to protect each of the pieces.

I notice that the visitors have a lot of respect and admiration for this place, a place where the culture and history of part of humanity come together.

The setting is excellent and the tour is very enjoyable, there is a lot, I would say too much to see, but it is so exciting that it is worth spending hours looking at each of the sections.

Throughout the tour there are places where you can read part of the history in two languages and where everything on display is explained in detail.

The sections are spacious and allow many visitors, tourists and locals to sit comfortably and enjoy the visit.

Many of the articles are not complete, but there are parts and each one of them is marked with a sign that identifies it. That is why I value so much the work done to classify and condition these finds.

It is well worth visiting this permanent exhibition of the Customs Museum, taking a great journey of culture and times gone by.

Thank you very much to all of you for seeing and reading this far. I wish you a very good Sunday. See you next time.
Amonet.

Thank you very much for the tour, a testimony and proof of what you say is true. Those lands, and the rest of the peninsula, have been visited, as a place of passage or as a place of settlement, by many peoples, leaving the best of their culture: Iberians, Celts, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, Germanic,..., We are a great mix of cultures. A mixture that continues today with the arrival of the “new” Spaniards coming from other parts of the world.

A big hug @avdesing, have a great Sunday afternoon.

You are not only part of it. I don't think there is a Malagueña in Malaga, more Malagueña than you. And there must be few people so grateful to the city, you are one of its best ambassadors.

I'm going out for a while, see you tomorrow 👋

I love archeology. This is a very nice exhibition that uses modern elements of design composition to tell the story.
