Three Tune Tuesday - And Rock Goes On
Hello music lovers! ๐ต
It's a Tuesday, time for #threetunetuesday, and a chance to share something I'm listening to.
My last post here was a week ago, and continuing with the music, I'm recalling memories from the past with you.
Last week, I posted a tribute to Steve Albini, a legendary producer who recently passed away. His exacting approach to production defined the sound of many bands and musicians who later achieved global recognition. His selfless work left an indelible mark on alternative and indie music development in the 1990s.
To honor his legacy, I've chosen to showcase songs by well-known bands today for which he was the producer or audio engineer.
In 1997, he founded the studio Electrical Audio, which is still in operation today.
For those of you who are not (yet) familiar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt - these are tags you need to set when you post.
It's a music initiative started by @ablaze, and with his words, the jist is as follows:
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs that I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the reward.
I chose songs by some musicians who wanted to work with him.
Pixies - Bone Machine
The song Bone Machine is from Pixies' first album, Surfer Rosa, which was released in 1988. The album received high praise from both the public and music critics, initially in Europe and later in the USA.
Experts even consider it one of the greatest rock albums of all time.
Nirvana - Heart-Shaped Box
The song is from Nirvana's third album, In Utero, released in 1991. Their previous album, Nevermind, had propelled them to global musical stardom. For this album, they hired Steve Albini to return to their earlier, more complex, and brutal sound.
PJ Harvey - Man-Size
The song Man-Size appears on PJ Harvey's second album, Rid Of Me, released in 1993. PJ Harvey chose Steve Albini mainly because of his work with the Pixies, Nirvana, and The Jesus Lizard. The album reached number three in the UK album chart.
Well, let's have a bonus :)
The Jesus Lizard - Nub
The Jesus Lizard was an American band from Austin, Texas. They were one of the first post-punk or noise rock bands. The song 'Nub' is from their second album, Goat.
I hope today's selection was interesting.
That's all for now, thank you for your attention.
This is my 47th post for #threetunetuesday, which @ablaze started. I hope what I'm sharing is interesting for others, too, because then it makes sense.
