Power of Naija: Cheering for victory 🎶🎶

Greetings!

In my part of the world, one of the biggest things that unite us, making us forget tribal issues or any troubles affecting the land, is football. And that connection grows even stronger when the national team, the Super Eagles, are playing. No lies, many people will say they’re not interested in watching or getting engaged because of past and present failures, but hey, even then, these same people often show the most interest, waiting anxiously to hear the outcome of the match.

Football is so loved that the biggest entertainment sector in Nigeria, the music industry, has a way of weaving its vibes, blending sports and music to give maximum excitement to sports-loving Nigerians.
Over the years, many songs have been released, dedicated to sports, and when they come, they bring immense pleasure, satisfaction, and energy.

Recently, after a series of poor results, our team surprised us last Saturday by thrashing an opponent 3-0. You should have seen how the nation erupted in jubilation! And yes, we deserved to celebrate because it had been a while since we experienced such a performance.

"Power of Naija" by 2face

This is one song I’ve longed to see an official video for, but unfortunately, 2face never made one. Though it’s a general song for Nigerians, a good part of it is dedicated to sports, explaining the Nigerian spirit in sports—the resilience, the refusal to give up, the zeal to fight to the end until victory is achieved.
On a sports ground, when this song is played, it has a way of "gingering" the crowd, sparking excitement and energy, and motivating the athletes to give their best.

"Issa Goal"

This song is one of my favorites, and it's the most recent song among the well-known ones dedicated to the Nigerian Super Eagles. These days, it's rare to find a sports song that matches up to the ones we had back in the day, so this one living up to that standard is a big deal.
It was released in 2018 during the Russia 2018 World Cup, a sponsored song by Coca-Cola backing up the Super Eagles. The song is a remix of Naira Marley's hit, featuring industry heavyweights like Naira Marley, Simi, Lil Kesh, Falz, and Olamide. It's a very danceable song, and people had a lot of positive things to say, especially about how amazing our jersey looked that year. Yes, we usually have the best jerseys!

"Top of the World"

Oh my! This song by D'banj was specially dedicated to the champions of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations—Nigeria! Yes, that’s us!
On the final day of the match between Nigeria and Burkina Faso, D'banj performed this song, and it was a huge experience.

Why all this today?
This is my way of cheering on my dear nation as we take on Rwanda today. Yeah, I’m already in the mood and rooting for victory!

This is my entry to #ttt organised by @ablaze
