An Afternoon Stroll with Mama and the Oldie: Mahogany Pods and a Dimsum Food Stall on the Sidewalk
This is the kind of moment that I really love -the moment that I am having a walk with my Mama and Mommy F. They are walking on my side while I am in the middle holding them both. The moment that we are just talking, walking, and enjoying the day. You know, just a normal day but very wholesome. We are talking about something funny that day, that's why it is more enjoyable for us.
I had another pleasant walk with Mama and the oldie last week when Mommy F decided to visit a friend. I want to share about it, but I decided not to because it is too sad for this article. I want to share good vibes only, so I'll skip it. It's a wonderful walk with them, and because we had such nice weather that day, we took our time walking while enjoying our surroundings. I mean, we can't really walk faster because Mom can't, and it'll be bad for her knee, so yeah, a sweet and slow walk it is with my family ( ◜‿◝ )♡
We are talking here when, out of nowhere, Mama saw something. I thought she saw some fruit, but it's not. It is a mahogany pod or seed shell just lying on the ground. Mama said that mahogany seed shell is good as firewood. I don't know about this, all I know is charcoal or the coconut shell as a firewood, just a wood would do too, and they are really good as a firewood. We never really tried that mahogany seed shell. How about you? Do you know about it? Have you tried using it as a firewood?
We already reach this far in a minute of walking. I also noticed the food stall in front of a building, and I told mom about it. I told her we don't have viand for dinner, and we are also planning to have our first Simbang Gabi that day. So buying cooked food for dinner is the right thing to do. We could have dinner before going to the church. And sk Mom decided to just buy a siomai in that food stall in the sidewalk. So yeah, it's a meaty siomai for dinner! \(^o^)/
Actually, we used to buy siomai in this food stall. It just stopped because it is not healthy anymore, lol. Their siomai is good though, I really like it, it is very different too from the siomai that we can buy at the market. I am not sure what brand they are using, but I am glad they have this brand. And they are not replacing it with another brand yet, so I'm really, really glad.
This food stall, by the way, has a simple setup -nothing grand, but its simplicity definitely attracts more customers. I remember back then, when this area was still undeveloped, they had spots here too, and they always had a lot of customers, including us. They still have them, of course.
They have a table and chair that can accommodate a few people. They ask the customer if it's dine in or dine out. They can eat there and even have Black Gulaman juice pairs with their siomai.
By the way, this food stall has a nice surrounding too. It's just near Pick Up Shop, where people often shop for things, from toys to appliances to clothes and many more. So we are just waiting for our order here. It is still hot, as you can see, it is freshly steamed in the steamer. They have different flavors, and their prices depend on what you order. For Japanese Siomai and Sharksfin, one order is 30 pesos, pork, chicken, and breed are 25 per order. You can get assorted flavors, and it costs 30 pesos too. And one order will give you four pieces of it. Not bad no? It's cheap and they have sauce prepared for it too, from soy sauce, calamansi, fried garlic and chili sauce. Its the best dip for siomai ,i tell yah!
After getting our order, we then walk again. On our way home, we saw a bunch of people, and we thought there's an accident. But it's not, it's just a parade, an opening of Mayor's cup, or an inter-barangay basketball League. The venue is in Bansud Gym, but because we are not fans of basketball, we didn't attend or watch this. But who knows, maybe we can watch it before Mama goes to Romblon. The league is still ongoing so yeah. ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ
And here's our siomai, by the way: two assorted and one Japanese siomai. Yum!
