Diy Heart Shape With Leaf Prints
Hello everyone ✨
It's kind of a known fact that I like the colour black. Most of the art works I've tried my hands on recently have black colour dominating. Apart from the evil things the colour black is associated with, the colour on its own is really universal and (permit me to say) beautiful colour.
For today, I decided to make a painting without any touch of black colour in it. That seemed really impossible at first but I still tried. After I finished with this work of art, I still had the urge to sprinkle the black colour on it but guess what. I didn't.
In a bid to utilise the natural elements around me, I decided to make prints with leaves. So, the artwork I made today is a combination of leaves and colours.
Materials Used
- Orange plant leaves
- Acrylic paint
- Painting brushes
- A glass of water
- Carton
It was raining heavily this morning when I went to get the leaves from the tree. The rain made the leaves look even more alluring. Can't blame me, I like water droplets on objects.
The leaves were pretty much the only thing I needed from outside. With the leaves in position, I got to work.
First off, I carved out a heart shape using a piece of paper. There was a time when my heart shapes never came out proportional, hehe. With the paper heart shape, I carved out another heart shape on a piece of carton.
After carving out the heart shape, I placed it on my white glacier paper and traced it. This was the shape I chose to work with today.
Picking out the best colour for this art was a bit hectic. On a normal day, I would go with black and something else but to reiterate, I wanted the painting to be more colourful.
The heart shapes we often see around are usually red. With that, I painted my heart shape with red colour. I wasn't really accurate and precise while painting so I may have roughened the edge of my heart. Not to worry.
With red as my base colour, I went ahead to start making leaf prints inside the heart. The prints were made in three layers. The first layer had a random placement. I coated the first layer with a diluted red colour and went ahead to the second layer. The leaf placement on the second layer was a bit more uniform. To highlight the prints, I went round the edges of the leaf prints with red colour. I repeated this for the third layer. After the leaf printing process, I was faced with the decision of choosing a colour that would help make the red heart stand out even more. At this point, I got a bit creative. The mixture of green and purple gave me deep blue. Deep blue was just the perfect colour.
With precision, I painted round the heart with the blue colour and that brought me to the end of my art session.
I must say that this is one very outstanding heart with leaf prints. I love it already and I would create a spot for it in my room. I bet it would be really nice waking up to such a view each morning.
What do you think of the art work? Did you like my no-black colour artwork? I would love to hear your views on it.

Luchyl dearest. Thank you ✨
Although I haven't seen your artwork with black but this is really good piece. I have never drawn a uniform heart shape either 😀
Having a blue base made this standout and i wouldn't prefer a black right there either...
A sneak peek at the most recent ones 😅. You see the black I mean right?
Alright. This is soothing. Thank you very much dearest☺️
Haha, I can only say now that you are good with colors and would have found a way to make black fit here and look good as well.
This is so beautiful ☺️
Thank you so much dearest. I'm glad you like it.
It's really beautiful Best. You keep outdoing yourself. But I'm interested in what's in the cups though?
Is it fruit juice?🙃
It's part of the red paint I used to clean the brushes 😂
😂😅😂😂
Yay! 🤗

I have very little knowledge when it's about painting because I feel 's a very difficult task for me. I feel it's looking ok but somehow I think it could be better but don't know how. You can understand it better than me. In my opinion black and white is looking better.
Thank you so much for the suggestion ☺️. I would consider making a black and white painting next time ✨
Amazing job!!! I love black too but this colour is also beautiful, keep sharing amazing DIY sis🥰

Love it, and reminds me of when I would make fabric heart framed pictures. Get old material and cut in shapes and then make a heart, it wools so cool!
Sounds like it was fun.
Reminds you of the time? This means you put it on a halt?
Not done it for years!
You should give it a try🙃🙃. I would absolutely love to see it
I knew it from the very first day I saw your pictures that you are super creative. That was an excellent work ma, keep it up...

So creative, I thought you wanted to paint it with black, I guess you eventually changed your mind due the heart shape, the second panting that looks like black and white, was it camera effect or you painted that one differently?
