DIY on how I made this stylist kimono Ankara gown for my self
Hello creative hiver, how are we doing and how was our weekend I hope we all enjoyed our weekend, merry Christmas to my friends on hive and in needle work Monday community I love you all .
Today I will like to share with you all how I made this short with this traditional fabric called Aso-Ofi in yoruba language in Africa.
I made use of 3 yards material that my mother in law gifted me I try to manage it with my daughter I firstly cut it in long but after joining it I found out that the length is not enough for me, so I had to cut it to short 😭 I thought have wasted the material but thanks to my skill in sewing I made the necessary adjustment and it was perfect for me to wear .
Cutting step
I folded the material into four I cut the gown in kimono style, shoulder to sleeve length is 15” then the burst is 12” and the hip is 12” plus sewing allowance .
After cutting the bodice I folded the Aso-ofi to 2” width and long enough to cover the both edge of the gown.
Sewing step
After joining all the bodices together I then iron it, I was very Sad 😢 that I have to cut the down part and make it short thinking that my lining is wasted but I thank God that the dress was not badly damaged. And I was able to sew for my daughter too and we rock it to church on Sunday .
Finishing
