What is a Community? (HIVE)
Recently I was asked, not once but twice, what is the deal with the Synergy Builders Community. I find that there is a bit of confusion around communities - namely that they have to "be" something - and what they mean technically on HIVE.
So today we will get into it, and talk all about my community, why I made it and what "it's for".
What's in a community?
Its not required to post to a community, you can post to "your blog", which is "nowhere". This is completely possible, and not much different to publishing to an empty or new community, except that its a data field that would be (and always was) empty.
Communities are a technical/protocol level development, and are actually HIVE accounts in and of themselves: which is why they cost 3 HIVE to create. Communities allow the stipulation of rules on an otherwise "open and decentralized" play field. In my community, I can expect to "make the rules", or at least define the culture. This is another layer to the HIVE cake.
I used to post in the Mancave Community, which I was made a moderator of, unless I had a post that fit especially well into another. As a (hu)man, I have many different interests, so a "man cave" of all the other things that didn't fit, seemed perfect to me.
Recently I made my own community, the Synergy Builders community. There are many communities, this one is mine. Now I have my own community where I can post anything that doesn't seem to perfectly fit in someone else's community.
Who can post here?
Well, anyone (who is a subscriber) can post in this community. I might not even notice right away. Generally, I have put two key words into the community: "Builders" and "Synergy". If someone were to stray too far from these things, I would probably ask them to use another community.
Since I have yet to establish any written rules, its possible an episode like this could cause me to write some. This is how development happens.
So in a sense you could say that this community, Synergy Builders, is my safe space. Where I go to write about whatever I feel like and nobody can tell me about "their rules".
Freedom and Friendship
I guess its relevant that the freedom part comes before friendship. I guess its easy to think that it used to be a lot more friendly around here, but the truth is there used to be a lot more people. There are still great friendly souls who take pictures of birds and shadows, share stories and arts and crafts, and generally cheer each other up.
For my part, I guess I am too overburdened with tokens and updates to think about "my blog" as much anymore. But it still makes me happy that when I go to post, there is a place that I can always be sure, will perfectly fit my post. Synergy Builders.
I like the way you look at communities on Hive.
When they were introduced I felt they compartmentalized things and actually took away from the larger community I was enjoying back on the wild west legacy chain.
I don't feel that way as much these days, and have posted to a few different communities recently.
Now, once I figure out how to synergize a post, I'll know where to post it xD
Onward and upward brother!

My hat is off to all the people who create and manage communities.
Not only are communities awesome for bringing likeminded people together and create fun & productive communications on the Hive blockchain, but it's also kind of the only way for new bloggers who come to the platform, to gain a footing and get their first posts seen by at least a small group of people.
bendiciones amigo
Thank you very much for a most valuable post.
Interesting that the post I like the most often say what I want to hear. !LOLZ
March 2023 I was introduced to this Hive platform where I knew nothing about blockchain and I knew nothing about getting rewarded for blogging. I know a lot more today. So much so that the more I learn the more I realize how little I do know about a lot of things. It was impossible for me to favor a particular tribe because I have a wide scope of interest when it comes to sharing knowledge and experiences. So I started by creating a community to consolidate my many online business interest.
Then there is the part of whether you separate personal interest from business interest and all the other things we may do that defines a cohort. I actually created a second Hive community for a very specific interest within the manual traffic exchange online community.
oh how I can relate and I am pleased to have noticed your share. Thank you very much.
I will give it a go. So I subscribed and I am thinking about making a blog about the latest development in my PEPT project. I recently introduced my veridiPASS.com website and gaming platform. This is how I am sharing my Learn Before You Earn philosophy where it matters not if something you do is personal, political, business, beliefs, or whatever. Everything is connected so best not to overlook the need to manage connections.
Thank you for inspiring me and reminding me of the value in doing something different.

Very cool! I have also created a few communities for a similar reason; Hive has a wealth of so many music-centric communities, but they all have so many rules I found myself too hesitant to post in any of them - so I created a rules free music space (Acoustic Lounge). You play the spoons? Bring 'em! You play drums on plastic buckets? Show me what you got! Just getting started with guitar and want to share your unpolished progress videos to ask for advice? Welcome home! lol - the rules bit is cool, but I also do enjoy a little good old fashioned 80's style reckless abandon where applicable. I also have prison hooch for informal brewing experiments and the azl index community which is kind of like a place for me to just put things I might want to link to later.
This was a fun read, I'm glad to see someone else creating communities and building awesome spaces!
Really great points here - communities are tools - use them in the way that makes the tool useful for you!
Amen brother!
