Street Art #712 Ankhone & Fluke, Montreal
Changing my "route" a little to get to the office one morning this summer, I came across this stunning mural done by two members of the collective AShop, Ankhone and Fluke. It's always worth a slight change of habits 😀.
En changeant un peu mon parcours pour aller au bureau un matin cet été, j'ai découvert cette superbe murale réalisée par deux membres du collectif AShop, Ankhone et Fluke. Cela vaut toujours le coup de changer légèrement ses habitudes 😀.
The Hochelaga cyclist / Le cycliste d’Hochelaga

Ankhone & Fluke
Ankhone is a Montreal-based artist and muralist. He's a member of AShop, a collective founded in 2009, and also of Projet Tyxna, which I've been telling you about for some time (see Street Art Contest #213 or Street Art Contest #209).

Fluke is also a Montreal artist and member of AShop. I don't think he's part of the Projet Tyxna. There's a cool video about his childhood in his Lasalle neighborhood on YouTube, perfect to know more about him.

Le cycliste d’Hochelaga
This mural, entitled The The Hochelaga cyclist was painted in 2016 to highlight the life of the neighborhood and its close link with the St. Lawrence River. It shows the Jacques Cartier Bridge and a container ship. The river is there, but access is blocked by port activities. There's also this cyclist, perhaps a reminder of the bike path that runs along Notre Dame Street. It's this lane that I cycle along in the mornings, but it's not me on this mural. My bike is much older than that 😀.
Cette murale, intitulée le cycliste d’Hochelaga a été peinte en 2016 pour mettre en avant la vie du quartier et son lien étroit avec le fleuve Saint Laurent. On y voit le pont Jacques Cartier ainsi qu'un bateau porte conteneur. Le fleuve est là mais l'accés est bloqué par les activités portuaires. Il y a aussi ce cycliste, peut être un rappel de la piste cyclable qui longe la rue Notre Dame. C'est cette voie que je prends les matins en vélo mais ce n'est pas moi sur cette murale. Mon vélo est bien plus vieux que cela 😀.

Comment trouvez-vous cette murale ? Dans le parc, il y avait cette murale qui met un peu de couleurs à ce mur de briques.

I used to consciously change my commute from time to time. Its a good thing to do. I would think of that lyric but it doesn't really mean that lol its about avoiding dwelling on your problems.
I like the last line, Drive the other way... every morning on my way to work, that's what I think 😅
