Book Review: The Smart Money Woman

It's been a while since I posted in this community. I was not in reach of the books I love reading.

The day I saw this book, I got carried away by the name. I said to myself, "This is a must-read." I took it from one of my customers who always comes around to buy food from me. Although she was still reading it, she promised to give it to me whenever she was through it. Three days later, she came around and handed the book to me.

Back to the book:

The Smart Money Woman is a book that can teach people some good lessons about how they spend their money and what they dip their hands into. In another way, it taught me to limit my spending, being someone searching for money. Everyone is still looking for money, while some have the money but spend it anyway. When you have enough, you will spend to your taste, but when you mingle your life with extra or excessive spending when you are managing, it will not go according to your growth in life. It is written by Arese Ugwu.

Zuri is someone who loves spending more than her pause. She has classified herself with all these girls who have enough to fall back on. She has nothing to fall back on; instead, she is just someone who is managing. Likewise, she would go for something classy and something more than her budget. That's what we referred to as classic babe.

She has a committee of friends who always think big and classy. When she traveled for a holiday, she lost her boyfriend to another girl. Folabi Tajudeen was the guy she dated for a year before traveling to New York for a vacation. Meanwhile, when she came back, her eyes were opened after hearing the news from her friends on how Folabi got married to another lady. It was a painful one, but she had to deal with her problem.

Difficulties can never cease to end. She met another problem, which was her Mercedes-Benz breaking down. The amount to repair the car was a bit too high for her to pay. Talking of the devil, her landlord came knocking. He has been troubling her, but she has no way to pay her the rent.

Sporadically, when you are broke, friends will not support you. This was what was happening to Zuri, but her nature of not wanting support from anyone was killing her. She has pride in the highest order.

In her list, her mom was part of it, but then her mom turned her down. After waiting for so many days, she had to call Folabi, her ex. She spoke, but then withdrew her words, as she never wanted a gift from him.

Life is just about that until we rediscover our tracks. Zuri discovered a lasting solution to her immediate problems. She has to cut off some of her too much spending. She also discovered that her phone was part of her concern and was limited to how she spent on data and airtime.

Her friends were another difficulty to her, but letting some things off guard is allowed until one finds his or her balance.

Life can always treat one that way until one finds his or her balance.

I would recommend this book to everyone out there, as it can make you think faster, especially on how to cut down your spending.

I learned a lot from this book while reading it. Likewise, I saw some of those things that would make me get it right in the aspect of making money.

Read it, and you will not regret reading it.

Sounds really cliche to me not going to lie. This type of self help, financial book pisses me off. On one hand, we're told to have friends who are of high profile so we too can work hard for the life we need and on the other, a book like this one, is condemning that. I honestly think one should just have financial discipline and not do too much. It's okay to stretch, sometimes, for something beyond our reach. Settling because of one's financial capability to me is bullshit. That said, one shouldn't go about borrowing or living a fake life just to fit in. Having high profile friends ain't bad. It helps.
