Let's Do What We Do Best: Be A (#SteemTron ) Community

@lukestokes used Twitter to invite the Tron Army to our Steem community. For the first time in days, there seemed to be a ray of light.

Just like most other Steemians, I've had a rough couple of days. The news that Justin Sun acquired SteemIt was the beginning of an emotional rollercoaster. It's not so much the news itself, but all the contradictions that seem to come with it. While Sun had stated in the live stream that a token swap would not be for now, today, a video popped up on YouTube in which the token swap is announced.

I really want to believe this is a video that was made a while ago and set to publish today, but I'm having a hard time doing so. Even a non-professional marketer wouldn't make such a mistake. I really don't know what to believe, or think anymore.

I've been on Steem since November 2018, and for the very first time I started a power down. I'm not planning to jump ship. This blockchain is way too important for me to do that. But I want to be prepared for anything.

I'm not going to go deeper into the matter in this post. There are plenty of other posts you can go and read for that. In the end, it's all speculation. We need to wait and see where this adventure will take us.

Personally, I think that one of the few things we can do at the moment, is do what we do best: be a community.

During the live stream, and in the press afterwards, I saw a lot of mentions about the toxicity of Steem users. Those messages hurt... a lot.
After all, we're human. I agree there has been quite some negativity on the platform(s), but isn't that what you get when a lot of people interact, one way or the other?
And yes, a lot of emotions took the upper hand during the live stream, but we just got the message that everything we had worked for, everything we had built and loved these last couple of years could just be wiped out, in the blink of an eye.

One of the things that makes the Steem community what it is, is the fact that we're all dedicated. When stuff like this happens, things tend to get a bit overheated.

Inviting The Tron Army

And then there was @lukestokes' tweet, in which he invites the Tron Army to Steem.

I started reading the thread, and although the first replies weren't nearly as positive as I would have hoped, it got better really fast.

Quite a good number of replies from people who had signed up and were waiting for approval. (Is there no way to speed this up and not let them wait for 2 weeks??)

Also, some wise words to be found:

us vs them.PNG

Some remarks on the initial negative reaction from our side, but it did open a line for communication.

The reactions of both Steemians and Tron people really touched me, and with this post, I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss out on one of the few things that bring up some positive emotions right now.

We all came for the money, but stayed for the community. Now let's show the world the value and the power of our community!

Don't despair young raver, it's an opportunity to meet new people and get new ideas about projects that can make a difference.

With investment from Justin, it's huge for the platform so keep smiling hey!

I'm trying my best, but it's not easy. The insecurity is driving me insane

Focus on the things you can control rather than the things you can't. Life's a doddle, hang around Top 3 and listen to psytrance - there you go, easy 😁

Haha, I was actually looking for a gif that said 'CTRL-freak', but couldn't find one.

The truth is, young lad (or should I say 'tripod'?), that control is an illusion

(I will take you up on the psytrance tip, though. It has been way too long. Will make tomorrow fullon feelgood psytrance day!)

Lol! I'm sure you will find one, if not @traciyork could rustle something up I'm sure 😁

It's not a complete illusion. You are still in control of your thoughts and behaviours and so I think positive things and behave like a fool because it's fun. Even when things behind the scenes may not be so rosy...

You do that young bean (with 22 years experience 😜)

I have a simple solution, just migrate completely from steemit to steempeak (support their proposal, too). Steemit needs to earn our trust again.

That is a very interesting observation @abitcoinskeptic. I think a lot of us (and I include myself) have to remember the distinction between Steemit and Steem. I weighed in on the SteemPeak and community issue on @acidiyo's #posh update post and won't repeat myself here except to say thay my front end of choice is Wordpress with @steempress.

The difference is confusing. Some people think even Justin Sun was confused.
I'll go look for your opinion there.

Wordpress and its stemexpress are great front ends to use and trust.

I think it's mostly for voting posting and commenting (ie. Blogging). I'm not sure if they have the full features like steempeak when it comes to wallets, voting witnesses, voting proposals,l communities/tribes in beta, etc. It is probably a better editor, but cannot fully replace steemit when it comes to Steem stuff. That said I encourage them to develop.

In steempeak's case, I like how they supported those steem engine tokens and tribes even before steemit made smts and communities on steem. They are ahead of the game and have shown leadership and an attitude towards decentralization.

Thanks for popping over ot @acidiyo's post 😎

What, I am suggesting to @steempress is considering the potential to cross post to, say, SteemPeak, instead of Steemit. Because yes, @steempress is just for posting and commenting. ATM. I do know further developments are planned.

(Edited)

Oh so there isn't a setting you can just change?
It shouldn't be too difficult for them to add. Steemworld lets us change.
Unless they are receiving funding directly from Steemit or Tron (which everyone should be transparent about), I don't see why they would only have 1 option.

No. I do hope that @fredrikaa and @howo - the team behind @steempress stop by. Perhaps it's in the making. Perhaps I should ask about it on Discord

I did read an update from steempress today. It seems they are working on something.

We definitely are working on stuff :p

steempress doesn't post to steemit (the front end), it posts to steem (the blockchain). And once it's on steem, various front ends like steemit/steempeak/busy.org etc can display it :)

Well, I do not have a say with what's going on, because honestly I cannot understand. Some are optimistic, some pessimistic, so I really do not know what to believe in. Hehe! 😂 But I agree, we need to be a community.

But the reason why I visited your blog is to know how you are doing. How's the surgery? Hope everything is well, @simplymike. 😍

Thanks, @gingbabida, I appreciate it.
The surgery went fine. I've been home for a week now. Still quite some pain, but I guess that's normal. In spite of that, things are better than before the surgery, so things are looking good, I guess :0)

Congratulations @simplymike! You received a personal award!

Did you downvote Steemit's posts because its owner converted it into a sockpuppets factory? OK, you deserve that badge!
