The best thing that happen to me last year

My story

Taking a good look at my past and last year is the closest I would say there are ups and downs and a lot of challenges to be faced. Last year was basically about my service year. It was filled with a lot of activities.

I once thought everything would be over after schooling but the service year was just another experience on its own. Going to my place of primary assignments, attending community development service, going for clearance, and also being called upon for parades by the military officer at any point in time can be so disgusting but we have no option but to appear there.

I love my place of primary assignments so much. I resumed on the 1st of December 2021 and a countdown to someday in October 2022 would be my passing out parade.

The anticipation, and how much I have prayed for the day to come so quickly was so funny. Especially when I get to see others pass out and get certified. Most times we get jealous and look forward to our time. 😂

And verily, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. Days counted, months passed, and it was just a few months to our passing out parade. Finally, I would be out of this! The happiness within us knows no bounds. It’s a pleasure to have served our country with all our might.

I was a teacher in an Islamic school in the military Cantonment. My students might be so stubborn and I might not turn out to be their favorite teacher but I bet my absence would be a blow to their faces. When it was a few days before my passing out we would be given terminal leave not to show up at our place of primary assignments, but out of love for the children I never took the break. I was called upon to show up till the very last moment. I never bothered but did try my best.

After taking my last class with them, I was about to go back to my apartment to get prepared for the upcoming event. One of my students called my name. They already had plans for me. Haha. What a beautiful moment... I was called upon for group pictures. Only if you could feel the happiness flowing all around. I have mixed feelings, I am happy to leave and sad not to leave those children behind. I knew I would miss them.

After the group pictures with them, they presented a gift they contributed among themselves. It was another wonderful and memorable moment for me. I appreciated it so much.

That was all about my place of primary assignments. I was also appointed as the head of the Muslim corpers association. I alongside my batch mates that are also part of my excos never had a picture together for the whole service year. I am not the type that is a picture freak. I just snap occasionally or most times when I am bored 😐 I put on my camera and play around taking selfies.

I told them, I would be taking selfies with you all. 😂 . Take that as a gift from me to you all and also make sure to cherish our moments together. Sincerely speaking those guys did so fantastic. We were glad to hand over to our downlines just like our predecessors did to us.

Finally, I got a selfie with them. 😂. We are four in number and I cherish the picture to date.

Finally!! The D-Day!

I got certified and became an ex corper as they termed it. No more community development service, no more federal government allowance, no more clearance, no more place of primary assignments. I am now moving on to the next phase of life. That was the best experience I got last year. It became a year filled with great memories.
