Musk, Tesla, Sued Over 'Blade Runner 2049' Use in Their Announcement

I just can’t get past the fact that this is something big companies do all the time, and they basically say fuck you to the people who actually create what they are using to make money.

Elon Musk and his company Tesla put Blade Runner 2049 footage in their Robotaxi announcement without even asking. Well they did ask but Alcon said no and they did it anyways. I'm sure he used that concept of “it’s easier to apologize than ask permission” thing. Obviously Elon didn’t care about what anyone thinks about his decisions.

Also, this is not just a situation of stealing someone’s work without asking them first, they were literally told no twice. That's your proof that big tech companies have no respect for artists, let alone simple boundaries. These artists spend years of their lives making something iconic then having some fucks put that content in their marketing hype. It's not like they desperately needed the footage because Tesla could just do their own visuals, come on, you got billions of dollars.

I see that the Blade Runner vibe can really make Tesla's announcement look very cool and futuristic and it actually did but this was not they appreciating the artist work, they literally exploited someone.

Well, they also didn’t ask us if we need a new Bladerunner as they’ve stolen the idea (again)😅

A very bad thing and they've been sued but I wonder if it'll ever go anywhere
