DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE PRAYER LIFE

What is prayer?
Prayer is when God’s chosen people make their petition known to God. Aside from petition, prayer is the only weapon humans use to conquer every spiritual and physical battle that comes their way.

The more a Christian prays, the more powerful he or she will become. Being prayerful doesn’t stop anyone from his or her daily routine.

What does the word effective entail?

The word effective means something that yields a positive answer rather than a negative result. The same thing applies to prayer, once your prayer as a Christian comes with an immediate answer it simply means your prayer is effective.

Principles of Effective Prayer

There are so many principles of an effective prayer, they are as follows:
The first principle is faith. The word ‘’faith’’, is not new, we’re all used to it. Faith is defined as something we cannot see but believe it exists.

For your prayers to be effective, you need to believe in God. Do not have negative thoughts about what you’ve prayed so far.

Secondly, your prayer must always align with the word of God. This is one thing people do not know. You might say, that today is three weeks since I started praying this particular prayer, and it has not yielded any effective result.

Have you ever asked yourself, is what I am praying for, by the word of God? We do not know what God taught us in the Bible about prayer. When you know more about the word of God, and how God wants you as his child to pray, your prayers will start yielding effective results.

Thirdly, fear must always be far from you while praying. Fear is one of the strategies that is used by the devil, to deprive the children of God from possessing their possessions. When you’re fearful and so disorganized, your prayers can never be effective, because fear is a hindrance to an effective prayer.

Do not be fearful, always believe in your strength. Do not allow the devil to intimidate or interfere with your prayer life.

Fourthly, knowing how and when to pray. This is the most important principle of an effective prayer life. Knowing when to pray and how to pray must always be part of our lives. You cannot be cooking and praying at a time, and expect positive results. You would be distracted in diverse ways, it could make your prayer useless.

Always have a specific time for your prayers. Some people pray at midnight, while some pray in the afternoon. So choose a time that would be favorable for you, and your prayers would start being effective.

Hindrances to effective prayer life

There are many hindrances to developing an effective prayer life, but I want to deliberate on only two.
First, being disobedient to God. Disobedience is a deadly disease in Christian Dom. When you disobey God, there’s no way your prayers can yield effective results.

We must always submit to the will of God.

Secondly, ignoring God’s presence while praying. A lot of us forget to invite God’s presence while praying. We should not always forget this while praying, to avoid unanswered prayers.

In conclusion, let’s try and make our prayers effective before God, by abiding by the following principles and our prayer lives will never remain the same.
