Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share some pictures from a snowboarding trip I took years ago!

Deep Snow Snowboarding

I know this isn't snow-skate related, though I really wish I was good enough on a snow-skate to have warranted taking pictures of it.. lol but it had a board on it, so I figured fuck it, let's share it with my Skate Hive homies!

This was back when I got my first GoPro so I was sure to take that shit along. We got a lot of use out of it, and I still have the thing hanging out on my counter even though it doesn't really work anymore. The funny thing about these pictures is that it was actually a bit of a mistake! I wanted to put it on record and get videos but I put it on picture and it took a picture every 15 or 30 seconds, I forget which. I'm looking back now and think that it was a pretty awesome thing to have happened!

This was on a snowboarding trip that I took to Vermont years ago, definitely one of the most beautiful places I've been to in my life! The mountain here was unbelievable, it had so much activity and snow on it because it's one of the best around. The crazy thing was that I was there when we were getting a pretty significant snow storm! It's so much fun when you're out there snowboarding, but it's also doing what is needed to have the hobby: snowing!

A lot of places make their own snow, and perhaps this place does too in a situation where they need it. In this case though, they got dumped on for snow and it was fucking awesome lol

I was a little bit of a menace for my friend that I went with, I was hanging out and playing in the deeper parts of the trail for hours lol what I loved the most about it was how damn quiet it was! When you're surrounded by several feet of snow, it has this unbelievable hush to the whole area around you. That can be problematic at the same time though.. if you happened to get hurt or caught in this type of environment there isn't a considerable chance that someone would find you wish is a little unnerving sometimes. Still though, the snow was so deep that I had to constantly dig myself out if I lost speed and sank! That was so fun hahaha.

With snow this deep you have to do a number of things to get yourself out. Certainly dig yourself out is a good step but also doing a little shift back and forth with your weight! It felt a lot like trying to do a board slide on a skateboard and having to use your body weight to rock it back and forth to make it keep going haha. I was rocking back and forth to try and get out of the crazy deep snow!

There is also the good old fashioned tree to get you out. Pulling onto them and making it so they help you get out of the ditch is great. I think on this trip I spent a good 6 or 7 hours out in the glades, which are the patches of trees in between the bigger trails. That was definitely one of the most fun times I've had in my life! It was also one of the most intense physical workouts I've ever done lol. When you are falling down, getting up and rocking yourself out of the holes you end up burning many thousands of calories hahaha.

It wouldn't be a post in the Skate Hive community if you didn't see any tricks! LOL I was pulling off a little bit of a manny here! These are pretty fun but they are a little costly, especially if you've skated your whole life. They pulled on my ankles quite a bit but I made sure to hold it for as long as I could! This was actually a really fun way to ride down these deep ass snow trails. You have to kind of surf them a bit which was super cool to do when you could! I remember zipping off the main trails and dipping into the glades and you have to surf around, it was a fucking blast!

Wish my buddy @herbertholmes2 would come on back! Miss you dude, hope you're still out there shredding!

Your snowboarding trip in Vermont looks like it was a total blast! 🏂

I wondered how you managed to take photos until I read you had your GoPro with you. Great way to break it in!

How much snow were you playing in? @cmplxty

I don’t remember exactly how much was on the ground but when I was off in the sides of the trail I sunk up to my chest! Easily 4 feet of snow out there LOL the trails were packed down a fair bit more but there was still plenty of fresh snow on it!

Over four feet of fluffy snowfall is a ridiculous amount to envision. No matter what age I am, snow always brings out the kid in me. Sadly, we don't get nearly enough snow in the Midwest anymore.

Have a great week ahead! @cmplxty

I myself like this kind of weather very much. When it is snowing, people enjoy it a lot. There is a little problem, but most people enjoy this weather.
