IN THE GARDEN~The Ink Well Prompt #98 Contest

Johnson is an old, self reversed man in the neighborhood who is noted for his possessive attribute. He's greedy, and only cares for what will benefit him. He lacks understanding and quick to anger, his neighbors find it a task to get along with him .

Maya is a young lady who packed into the neighborhood not quite long. The neighborhood has grown to love her because of her simplicity, she is accommodating, compassionate and loves helping willingly without being asked. Maya has been a loving neighbor to all the people she has been seeing ever since she packed into the environment. The neighborhood she found to be a comfort zone turned to be a discomfort when she met Mr Johnson.

Seeing that Mr Johnson is living alone with no one to assist him, Maya saw Mr Johnson's yard and garden unkempt and decided to surprise him by sweeping and watering his garden for him. After sweeping the varandar.

She stepped into the garden and began unplugging the overgrown weeds, after which began watering the veggies. Mr Johnson stepped out to find someone in his farm. He began insulting and accusing the person of being a thief. This got Maya sad and angry.

"Mr Johnson, I am so amazed to
hear you speak like this. Seeing me in here in your garden shouldn't make you conclude I'm here to steal. I am only trying to show my kindness in the little way I can". Maya said bitterly.

Mr Johnson refused to believe Maya which resulted in a fierce argument. Neighbors heard voices and rushed down to Mr Johnson's house. Seeing Maya there got everyone shocked. After Maya's explanation and Mr Johnson's reaction, they try to talk Mr Johnson to being calm but to no avail. They had no choice but to leave him quarreling.

After everyone left, Maya felt the need to make peace with Mr Johnson. She began pleading with Mr Johnson to forgive her for intruding into his farm without his permission. She narrated how her intention was to be friends with him like she is to other neighbors and assist him. This time she was speaking calmly with all sincerity. This warmed Johnson's heart, he was touched by Maya's humility at that point and was able to see that she's innocent and meant no harm.

You just changed my life, I have been too possessive, not knowing that there is more to life than just being too self centered. You have shown me that love is all about being in a good relationship with others. I need to work on my ability to open my heart to others. You have just taken me on 101 class today and I will live to practice patience and understanding.

Maya, who was happy that she had impacted Mr Johnson's life, smiled with joy beaming on her face. The villagers were so happy to see a new Mr Johnson who now allows people to visit him, take veggies from his garden. The villagers became grateful to Maya's presence in the neighborhood and her impact in Mr Johnson's life.
