Dara and her perfection.
"Wait, Dara. I can explain. It is not what you think. You saw something wrong, so let me just expl..."
Chuckling deeply, Dara let out a huge sigh as memories of that day filled her mind. Today was a bright sunny day as usual, and Dara could see that it was, but her life wasn't. Her life is dark and gloomy, and she feels lost. She had sat down for weeks trying to think, to just get an answer from above or whoever on why things were like this.
How did her life become this way? She wanted to ask the universe again and again, but she just couldn't. She's tired. Life is tiring. For once in her life, she was angry at herself. She cussed herself blindly on why she gave love a chance in her life.
"This is a stain on my reputation." she said out loud, shaking her head.
Dara was known to be perfect. From the very first day she was born into the world, her life has been perfect. With curly black hair, a dimple, a perfect set of white teeth with a diastema, blue eyes, and an oval shaped face. She was perfect. People looked at her with admiration ever since she was little, and her parents pampered her. She had the perfect parent who never for once fought or got divorced, unlike people in her surroundings whose level of divorce was high on track.
Her parents made her believe in love, but she had never found the perfect guy for her, so she had never given any guy a chance. Not a single guy touched her hands romantically except her father. Dara had gone to the best schools, always topped her class, and graduated from a renowned university, which got her a job immediately.
She led a perfect life, but she knew something was missing. Her perfect man to complete it all and she found him. Santa must have loved her so much because he gave her a gift on Christmas, and it was the perfect gift. It was her perfect 25th birthday gift, and she was pleased... tall, dark skinned, British accent, loving, kind, and just a perfect man.
She had met him on Christmas Eve when she went shopping and it was love at first sight. She felt the tingling feeling in her fingers when it grazed him, and he felt it too. They became friends, and then, the dating saga began, and for almost 2 years, it would have continued not until that fateful day.
Sighing deeply, Dara couldn't believe that the shoe was on the other foot. That she would lose her perfect man. Holding her head with her right hand as she thought, she was jolted from her thought when her phone rang.
Picking up the phone without checking the caller's name, a familiar voice filled her ears.
"Ma..." Dara said silently.
"I heard. My poor baby, are you okay?" Her mother asked lovingly.
"No, ma. I am not, I thought I had found my perfect love. A love like that of you and pa, but I didn't." Dara replied.
"No love is perfect, Dara. I know you have seen your father and I loved ourselves, but that doesn't mean we didn't have our down moments, but you never noticed because we had planned for such moments. We had sworn never to let you see those moments. We wanted you to have a happy life, but we shouldn't have done that. We should have let you see that things aren't always good. Maybe it would not have made you feel like life is perfect."
Sighing deeply, her mother continued. "You have to be able to communicate with your partner, and learn to understand. I met with Kingsley, and he explained things to me. I think you should hear him out, too. He loves and respects you." Her mother said before ending the call, leaving Dara speechless.
Dara had a lot of questions to ask her mother. They were perfect. She had the perfect family, right? "No… no! Mother must have said that to make me feel better, right?" but she knew, deep inside, Dara knew what her mother said was true...looking back on her childhood, she knew she saw some signs. "Was that it?" she questioned no one in particular, and just as she wanted to call back her mom, her doorbell rang.
"Hmm, who can that be?" she questioned the air around her as she stood from her bed and walked straight to the door. Opening the door, she met the man of her worry. With an angry face, Dara tried to close the door, but Kingsley quickly came in.
"You blacklisted my contact. I would have called to let you know I was coming. I apologize for going to meet your parents to explain things to them, but they were the best option I had." Kingley said with a slight smile on his cheek.
"What do you want?" Dara asked, folding her hands on her chest.
"I want us to talk. It has been 2 weeks now, and I just need to clear some things up. If, at the end of the day, you still don't believe me, we can officially break up, and I'll leave. But first, I'd like us to communicate. Can we do that?" Kingsley asked, staring at Dara's face.
Walking to one of the chairs in her sitting room, Dara sat and offered the adjacent one to Kingsley.
"Thank you." Kingsley said before continuing, "I told you I could explain and that you saw things wrongly. I want to let you know that I am not perfect, but that doesn't mean I'll ever cheat on you. I know you saw me close to my secretary when you came in. But, things weren't as you thought."
Letting out a huge sigh, Kingsley continued. "She was supposed to finish up with a document on Friday and submit it on my desk, but she was not feeling well so I asked her to take the day off and bring it over at my place tomorrow. Immediately, she dropped the document and was leaving my place on Saturday, she fainted. I was lost and started CPR on her as I dialed the emergency number on my phone, but then, she woke up, and I held her head up to lift her from the floor when you saw us."
Bringing out his phone, Kingsley opened his gallery and gave it to Dara to see. "That's her invitation card inviting me to her wedding. When she got to the hospital that day, it turned out that she was pregnant and fell down in my apartment due to dizziness. Her fiancé appreciated me, and they are getting married next Saturday."
Zooming on the invitation card on Kingley's phone, Dara saw that it was true and saw that The shoe was on the other foot. She had believed Kingley cheated on her and had hated him but he didn't.
Holding on her chest, Dara cried hard... "I am sorry Kingsley, but I don't think I deserve you. I am sorry I never gave us a chance to communicate and never got to access the situation. You deserve someone better... I...I.."
"Shh," Kingley said as he held Dara to his chest. "We can work things out, but I want you to know that no one is perfect, not you, not I. But, if you are willing to give us a chance and ready to fully communicate, then let's start a new relationship, okay? Kingsley replied.
Nodding her head, Dara spoke, *"I am ready to communicate, understand, and work things out.
Kissing her on her cheek, Kingsley smiled. ”That's my girl.” He whispered.
Thank you
Communication is highly needed in every relationship , am glad that they got to reconcile and she also learnt that every relationship has a leaking roof including her parents perfect marriage
And so am I. Thanks for reading
Beautiful story! I'm glad Dara and Kingsley reconciled and learned valuable lessons about communication and understanding. It's a great reminder that nobody is perfect, and relationships require effort and trust.
Yes. Nobody is perfect. Thanks for reading
Actually, no one is perfect, we all have lapses. Believing that you are perfect in the first place is a set up that can ruin one's life. Am glad Kingsley and Dara found a way out at last.
That's right. People who think amd feel they are perfect are won't learn as they are supposed to
I go love o 😑
Love prevailed in the end. I'm glad they were able to understand each other
Yeah, and so am I. Thanks for stopping by
Very amazing 🥰❤️❤️

British accent? Does that make one special? I think every accent is beautiful and ingrained in the culture of the people.
That's by the way. Talking about the friction between Kingsley and Dara, communication is vital in sustaining a relationship. No one is perfect truly. It's always about work in progress.

Some ladies goes insane for that. We never know what a human crave until they say it. Hehe.
Yeah, work in progress that can work out if the two parties are ready to work.
Keep up the good work. 👏🎵
