Otherwise Life Just Flies By!
We actually did something this weekend and when I say something I don't mean chilling in front of a screen or sitting outside reading a book. We actually went to someone for a "braai," which means we actually left the house.
Oh wait, none of you have any clue what a "braai" is. My bad, well most would call it a barbeque but us Afrikaner folk call it a "braai" and we don't "braai" with gas! We stack up a bunch of wood, light them up and wait for the perfect coals and then throw that meat on to sizzle!
We were invited by a good friend of The Betty and well as things always turn out for us... it was confusing.
When we arrived we were an hour too early even though we thought that we were going to be late! Upon arrival her friend Tobia just got home from a jog, what luck was that!
This is where it gets funny, we were all ready to crack open a beer and light the fire when Tobia realized that she has forgotten her key inside the house and the sliding door locks when you close it, if the lock is in the locked position. (I'm sure most know and have been through a similar situation, I damn well have been.)
Don't be fooled with the security gate being wide open, we were in-fact locked out from having fun! Laughs we then had to wait around for about forty minutes for one of her neighbours to return who had a spare key, Luckily. The waiting around wasn't really a problem to say the least, it was nice being outside breathing in some fresh air and we did some catching up, it's been ages since me and The Betty last saw Tobia.
Look at them being weird!
Needless to say we finally got the keys!
We didn't jump straight into the game of drinking after all the beers had to freeze up a little ey, nothing as bad as a warm beer! We all enjoyed a cup of coffee first, the weather is somewhat cold to say the least!
I have to add that the night didn't really go according to plan, I'd say it worked out a lot better than we first planned. We were only suppose to meet up for a chowing and catching up, to be honest I don't think Tobia even expected us to bring something to drink.
Usually me and The Betty aren't that fond of drinking, we use to be but now were growing old faster than we realize! An occasional beer or three around the fire, well that is a whole different story isn't it! Another thing I have to add is that if I go out drinking from now on I'll always get myself a pack of craft beer!
Craft beer is just so much better in many ways! Besides it's barely a dollar more than ordinary beer! Why not buy it then!
After a while things got crazy! Not bad crazy! A good kind of crazy!
I did say earlier that we aren't the biggest of drinking people so when we do drink it doesn't take much to get us going 🤣 and although I'm not overly fond of it I feel that we needed to have some fun time! We really did and getting out of the house, well that made me realize how much I was craving for it!
I've always tried doing something at-least once a month but life always has a way of getting in the way right?
I think we need to gather whatever friends we still have left and devise some sort of plan to force us to do something once a month! Otherwise life just flies by!
I did say we were braaing! Although that thought only occured to us later that night as we only planned on making some pasta and chill! Turns out we grabbed some chunk of meat from the freezer and started that fire! It was an especially cold night so the fire was a real treat to say the least!
On the other hand what is a get together without a fire crackling next to you! A fire, well a fire makes for very entertaining conversations, doesn't it?
I'm not old at all yet, in-fact I'm still very young but I am growing older none the less and if I knew what I know now when I was much younger I'd have done a few things differently in my life. The biggest thing would be to converse as much as possible with as many as possible, memories are the only thing you get to keep with you forever!

Lol, glad you finally got going!
Isnt it horrible waiting for beer to cool!!
It really is the worst having to wait! You can try and distract yourself but it's always lingering there in the back of your mind!
Laughs!
We have to enjoy life before we fall apart and unlike vehicles we can't really just up and replace a part. 😄
Very true!!
I always end up taking a beer thinking it's ok, it's had enough time them fecking regretting it because it needed another twenty mins in the cooler!
It's nice to see you two getting out and enjoying yourselves!
Thanks for sharing happy memories with us bro! 🤗😎🤗
Haha we have to! We should get out more before we're to old to do anything😂
I actually enjoy writing those a hell of a lot more than technical posts to be honest 😂
Have a great one bud!

Been a while since I've had a braai :/ I guess that's the downside of immigrating.

Hahaha, I really should. Although, I think the meat is the part I am missing the most.
Although, I've recently learned about a local e-shop that imports SA goodies like: Ouma Rusks, Biltong, Rooibos, etc so I'm waiting for my order to be delivered :D

Biltong and rooibos is a must! I grew up with Ouma Rusk, however it has gotten so expensive 😅. But some SA goodies you can't live without!
True! I always bring several bags of biltong and boxes of Rooibos whenever I visit South Africa (which is extremely rarely nowadays unfortunately)
