Do you believe in luck or do you believe hard work and preparation creates "luck"?

You can't be completely unlucky with hard work and consistent preparation.

Finally the day came, when we had to go to his school to sign his board registration papers. Unlike our time, now the board needs both the parents come to school and sign the form. This gives equal priority to both parents, which is definitely a good symbol of a healthy society. In less than two months, the kid is going to appear the first exam, that would decide his career or fate we can say.

20241128_154215.jpg

We decided to go with a decent simple outfit to the school, discuss with teachers about his progress, what they think about his performance and we were happy to hear that the kid has done good progress, but he has more capability. We have been very supportive to him at home, allowing him to fully focus on just two things : health and studies. They are going to have several exams in succession now, from the CBSE board, like pre-board, sahodaya and the final exam. And in between, he has to appear the JEE Mains, which is the gateway to his career. So the CBSE exams and the JEE Mains have complete different format and preparation for both separately is the key, and that is where I believe, hard work and preparation positions him for better opportunities or luck, by allowing him to get better ranks. Unlike our time, kids now have much better exposure to information available at their fingertips, and I have been providing all the guidance along with financial and mental support, but at the end, its he who has to execute the plan, doing his part as much as possible. And if all goes well, he will have to prepare for the JEE Advanced, after the board exam and that one will be the toughest one as it gives entry to the premium institutes of the country - the IITs. Belonging to a general caste, he will have very stiff contest across the country, but we along with all his teachers have been consistently boosting his moral to give his level best.

Sometimes, we don't get what we prepare for, however hard the planning and preparation may be..And that is where Luck comes to play, and these kids need our support most at that time. Now a days, many unfortunate incidents happens because of keeping high expectation, so I have clearly conveyed him that, I will support you at every step of life, but only if, you have done your part rightly. You don't need to explain to anyone, its your inner consciousness that knows everything, so you are going to decide your own destiny. If you get unlucky even after doing everything right, then life still moves on....There will be many more real life problems later, that you will have to face, so acceptance is key to happiness.

Hopefully, we will help these kids lead a better life by being more supportive, than our parents. Our time was different and this time is no way comparable, and we have to accept that too. Before coming back, we took the opportunity to capture some more photographs at the school - felt like we now wear the Parent look.....

Unlike our time, kids now have much better exposure to information available at their fingertips

Without a doubt. They are more resourceful than ever.

I have been providing all the guidance along with financial and mental support

That is exactly where family comes in as a base support.

he will have very stiff contest across the country, but we along with all his teachers have been consistently boosting his moral to give his level best.

Good Luck. I am sure he will be able to crack it. And it is actually good at this point in career to know what exactly are we maneuvering for the next checkpoints of academia.

And that is where Luck comes to play, and these kids need our support most at that time.

BHAGYAM FALATI SARVATRA NA CHA VIDYA NA CHA PAURUSHAM

All attributes require Luck and Fate to flourish.

However, we can not delegate it to LUCK completely either, we can not remain complacent citing LUCK. We have to remember that LUCK is nothing but the result of unpaid work of the past. So rather work hard now without stressing too much on LUCK, if we do not get the fruit in the near future, it will go into saving and come to fruition with dividend in the future time.

Parenting is a tricky thing, I think you are enjoying your parenting journey. It becomes trickier when your kid steps into their teen-years.

Thank you.

I see most (if not all )things in life as a bit of gamble so luck is important. But you are right- luck or no luck we still have to try our best. No matter how lucky a person is he still needs to put in effort trying to achieve his goals.

Expecting and leaving everything on "luck" doesnot get us anywhere. It is all about hardwork and patience alongwith the luck to achieve success....just to highlight an example, there are number of aspiring nd hardworking artist, in the film industry, still only few are in limelight....this is where luck comes handy......I am sure the parenting from both of you has done the best for the success of the kid...he now know how to climb the success ladder.

The authorities are giving equal importance to both mother and father, good society. But in reality you are the guardian of your wife. Mothers play a big role in raising and educating children, so they should be given due respect. It was good to see the three of you again, stay well.

The concept of luck is an illusion. If you work hard, you will arrive at your desired dream.

Not necessarily, you can't control everything. Did Steve Jobs arrive at his desired dream ?

This reminds me of my coursemate when I was in school, she had another extra year in school. We all were attending classes, staying awake all nights reading our handouts and books together in order to make sure we all scale through but she couldn't even those we didn't expect will pass made it. Not that she wasn't intelligent or she wasn't studious, in fact, she gave in her whole best. In conclusion, I will say that she was just unlucky.

One needs to be actively engaged before thinking of being lucky or unlucky.

Luck? Well, it is hard to say but o respect others opinions for believing in it. For me, hard work and preparation supersede luck. Luck mostly come to those who do their homework and get prepared for what comes forth.

No, that's also not right. Some are borne with sliver spoon, they are lucky from birth. There are people who never do any preparation but still gets lucky. But the point is that, they are very few....may be one in a million or even more. So that cannot be adopted as a practice.....for our living, we will have to do our homework and best preparation and then leave the last 1% to luck.

And let me tell you a real story of the kid - in 10th board, he prepared hard, but he was not good in History. We called in a teacher, who provided him some questionnaire and he made sure, he is on top of it. In the exam, all the questions were from his preparation, that is luck. Had it been different, he would not have scored the highest but it could not be entirely different as well.

So in my opinion, luck is there, but let's not rely on it. If it comes, we should treat it as a bonus from the divine.

All right. You have made some valid points which I never thought of especially the one burn with silver spoon. But one can still lose that luck if not properly prepared for it😊

i belive you need to work hard to get result, even tough some luck is always game changing, for example being the son of Lamborghini owner is just luck... for some things fate seems written like when someone walks and gets a stone right in the head in that moment

I have seen many such people in my life who have worked hard but they have not succeeded they have worked hard day and night we had a friend who was working in food panda and after a long time Even if he doesn't succeed, the role of luck in our life is much more important.

I have gone through your complete right up.
You are right that we have to support our children through thick and thin.
If your kid is giving his 💯% in studies then don't mind the results. Check his approach and seriousness about things.
Later on, it will help in practical life.
We shouldn't put unnecessary pressure on our kids regarding education...
By the way the institution is looking adorable.
Nice clicks..
May your son prosper in every walk of life..
Thanks for sharing.

Harder you work, the luckier you get.

I belive in this philosophy, and rest we should leave it to the Universe. Your son would do well in JEE Main and Advanced. My all the best wishes with him and your family.

My point exactly, luck dont just fall from the sky, we create with opportunities with our plans by working for it consistently thus the word luck comes into existence when we finally succeed

It is not a matter of luck, it is a matter of how we face life, the different situations that it presents us, the ability we have to use everything bad to our advantage, greetings, happy weekend

I completely agree that hard work and preparation lay the foundation, but sometimes luck can make all the difference in the outcome!

The same applies to those experiencing what is often referred to as "bad" luck, especially when multiple misfortunes occur in a short period, making it incredibly difficult to cope. There are occasions when one can never be prepared for what life throws at them.

Whoa, such a thought-provoking post. Thanks! It got me thinking deeply about life.

There are occasions when one can never be prepared for what life throws at them.

And that is when we need divine help - to keep mental balance, to be able to face them. Even doing everything perfect, one cannot guarantee that, he will get the desired results. Steve Jobs is a perfect example...

I think it's the latter. Hard work brings blessings. Though some people are born rich, ohh, how I hope. Hehe
