Teaching children the importance of Geology.

Hello friends. I hope everyone is well and had a great weekend. For my part, I tell you that on Saturday I participated in a children's teaching activity, which was very rewarding for everyone.
I work at the Institute of Geology and Paleontology and as the Geological Service of Cuba we provide different services such as cartography, deposits, paleontology, prospecting among others. We provide the country with data where minerals and raw materials for different branches from construction to medicine are found.
Geology is the science that studies the earth and it is very important that children from a very young age learn about the planet and its mineral resources and how to take care of it.
The Institute carries out different activities and has contracts with Universities and study centers where lectures are given on the subject. We also attend elementary schools where children participate in contests in different categories such as poetry, painting, among others, all related to this science.
On this occasion, a children's activity was prepared for the weekend under the title "Knowing the Earth", in which they were taught the secret of rocks and minerals, the different eras of paleontology, the life of dinosaurs and their disappearance, etc. The children and even the adults were captivated by the explanations of the specialists and the presentation of an erupting volcano.
It was very gratifying to see the children motivated by what they learned and with their eyes shining at the secrets of life on the planet and how much more they could learn if they study it. We as professionals felt more than excited to receive praise and even surprised at the fantasy of these children who dream of becoming geologists and be part of our team helping to care for the earth and its treasures.
