Trash Cleaning Weekend
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share how important it is to remove and keep junk at bay!
Trash Cleaning Weekend
With the incoming nice weather we have for springtime, one of the most prevalent sayings we have around here is "spring cleaning!" and that's absolutely what we did this past weekend!
The little man and I went to the lakehouse and we were out there looking for some fun and to get around the outdoors while we were aiming to do some cleaning. We got into more than we bargained for that's for sure!
With the lakehouse, one of the things is that there are several parts that are kind of falling apart. One of the was absolutely the deck! Granted it was probably 30 years old or so, so it certainly had spent its time properly. It was time to replace it so my wife's family contracted some guys to come replace it. What we didn't realize was we were going to get access to some of the trash that was underneath the deck! Here's a good example of the swill that accumulated underneath there over the years. When things get past you, it's hard sometimes to get in there and pick up the pieces. That's certainly what was going on here, time flew by and things just accumulated.
We got a bunch of the stuff cleaned up and loaded into the car so we could toss it in the dumpster at home. We filled the trunk with half broken junk lol it felt great to finally get under there and purge some of the shit! We know he won't know what the heck was there among the small stuff. Hopefully we can convince him to get a dumpster to get rid of some of the stuff but if we could at least get a bunch of the broken floats and stuff we'll be happy with that progress.
What astounded me was someone let this giant barrel just float around the lake for a while! Lol I'm hoping that it was just attached to somebody's dock as a floatation device to help keep it going but in any case, it was just roaming around! I thankfully got ahold of it after someone in a boat splashed it a bit closer to shore so I could grab it!
The barrel was heavy as hell but we managed to get it onto shore and put it into a decent spot. If someone was driving around the lake in their boat they will certainly see it from a distance and hopefully come pick it up. It was pretty heavy so I don't think someone is going to be a jerk and push it onto her family's land but you never know with some people.. One thing I wanted to enforce with our son is that we can't expect somebody else to clean or pick things up. Sometimes, more often lately, you have to be the person to do the cleaning because it's good to take care of something ourselves instead of waiting for someone else. If we took ownership of things and cleaned ourselves, I think we would be in a much better place overall!

They told me if I killed myself now it would save the lives of countless others.
Saying the longer I wait to kill myself the more people will suffer.
They are reckless and should have shown the proper media what they had before taking me hostage for 5 years. I know there are many in prison that dont deserve to be there because of this. Your stay in prison will not be fun @battleaxe and friends. People are going to want you dead when they find out what you did. I hope you die a slow painful death. You sick mother fuckers.

Its a terrorist act on American soil while some say its not real or Im a mental case. Many know its real. This is an ignored detrimental to humanity domestic and foreign threat. Ask informed soldiers in the American military what their oath is and tell them about the day you asked me why. Nobody has I guess. Maybe someone told ill informed soldiers they cant protect America from military leaders in control with ill intent. How do we protect locked up soldiers from telling the truth?
I agree, this would be such a better place overall if everyone just cleaned up after themselves! And it accumulates so quickly without realizing it. I just recently purged my house for "spring cleaning", it's really a liberating feeling lol
Oh man you're telling me! We are moving and have been purging stuff like crazy. It's wild what we accumulate over time lol. Feels good to purge stuff we don't need or use!
Would be awesome to see the after cleaning photo. It's so satisfying.
Hahah yeah we will have some this weekend! Going back there to do some tidying up, plus it'll be a nice day one of them so good to get out and stretch the legs.
You did such great work. You guys must feel a great sense of accomplishment having done this. I know that having a clean up and tidy session always feels so great afterwards and would have made a huge visual impact as well.
I'm wondering why those barrels were just left out there, I know some places use them as buoys but then they are generally attached to something. The lesson of ownership and not just leaving things to the next person is a great one for your son to learn early on, it's something that I am trying to teach to LL as well.
Have a great weekend @cmplxty :)
Yeah cleaning up feels great! We are on a roll, with our house since we are selling to move we have been purging and tossing all kinds of shit and it's good. We are trying to also not accumulate that stuff again lol
Yeah one of the things I try to emulate for him is to be the change you want to see. Don't expect things to change with the next person, do it ourselves!
