Breaking the Piggybank - Why I am grateful that I am breaking my savings jar.

avatar

This this very second I have $60 HBD sitting in the account, around $3 in HBD interest to be paid out within a few hours and $233 in HBD savings.

This for me as a South African is a decent amount of money!

At the current exchange:

A good R4852!

In South Africa this could buy 275 loaves of bread. Or 76 Big Mac Burgers.

Or this whole computer system from Takealot!

Thus, without digging at my HP, the HBD component of my savings is capable of doing some real work!

The long-term goal for the HBD savings looks like this:

Each month I add 1 HBD more than the last month.

Of which I was WELL ahead of schedule:

If fact, if I stuck everything into savings I would have been busy with September 2023's goal! Why would I do this? Well, like I said I am earning around $3 in interest. It becomes an easy hypothetical math equation saying that if I wanted to make $3000 instead of $3, I need 1000x the amounth of HBD savings.

FYI, $3000 is a R54,600 which is far more than what I pay per month! Thus if I had 233 x 1000 = 233,000 in HBD in my savings.

HOWEVER

Life has thrown me some curveballs and I have need to take some of the savings money... I was ahead, now it FEELS like I am taking a step backwards.

If I could carry on the way I had planned, adding +1HBD to the monthly goal then I would end up here:

March 20239 earning over R30,000 per month in interest! Awesome.

Regardless of this... I am thankful that I CAN bust open this piggybank. Also, it only takes 3 days to take the money out of Savings and then another few hours (or up till 3 days if I have the time to wait) to stick it into my bank account.

And if I did NOT have this savings portion... I would have been in a VERY precarious situation.

Bottom line is: Be thankful for Hive! Be thankful for the ability to just blog and earn crypto from it!

If you have not yet started blogging, then now is the time!

Thank you for reading!

Cheers!

Saving is a very good habit but it requires a certain level of discipline to achieve a part goal of saving.

Hive is a blessing indeed... I hope you are coping with the electricity issues???

Keep stacking those pennies, man. They add up before you know it. It is what I have been doing with my rewards from GLX staking, comment rewards, and various other small rewards from the HIVE blockchain.

I think that your decision to invest in cryptocurrency and break open your piggybank was a wise one, and I wish you the best of luck with your investments.
