TM, you're said before that you're invested in Tesla, and I'm sure you saw this week that Trump promised Musk a position to head his Government Efficiency agency which Elon said he'd accept. Do you think it's likely Musk would need to sell his 12.87% stake in Tesla (411 million shares) to join the government?

I dont know the regulations but this is not a true agency. If that were the case, Trump could only appoint Musk who would then have to be confirmed by the Senate.

This is more like a Presidential commission which have advisors who recommend policy to the administration.

If Musk was joining the cabinet, Senate confirmation would be required.

As for the basis of your question, I dont know the procedure on Secretaries and their holdings.

Thanks for your answer! I had a quick look around the internet but couldn't find anything that would confirm it either way. It's going to be very interesting to see how the US Presidential Election affects Tesla - I'm guessing it'll be a wild ride.

I guess this was bound to happen eventually. It happening in China early on is expected because of the low prices of their EVs. Since the EVs are also made a lot there, and there is no need to import and transport, the prices are even lower compared to other countries. The switch to EVs should get faster from here.
