LeoThread's Potential Impact Upon Comment Count On Hive
Leofinance is seeking to change the game. We are now looking at microblogging becoming a consistent part of the Hive ecosystem. Unlike other attempts at this, LeoThreads utilizes the comment layer on the blockchain. This means that Threads are not top level posts.
The excitement regarding microblogging stems from the fact that we can see some insane numbers. We all know how popular Twitter is, with an estimated 500 million Tweets per day. This is a number that is truly mindblowing.
Of course, that is dwarfed by the activity on Facebook and Instagram. Those two applications have more than a billion users each month, pushing some huge numbers.
This is something that Hive needs to duplicate to a degree. Certainly, it might be unrealistic to expect billions of transactions but millions each day should be attainable.
After all, that is a smidgeon of what Twitter does.
The goal for the Leofinance team is to have 5,000 monthly active users on the platform by the end of the year. This equates to a 10x of the existing userbase.
We will see how it all unfolds. However, it is best to take a look at where we are now.

By The Numbers
Engagement is something that is vital to the success of any social media platform. Without it, we are deemed to languish in mediocrity.
We all know that Hive was established based upon long-form content. LeoThreads along with other projects seek to change that. The nice aspect to long-form is that it can attract serious content creators. Sadly, this is not where the majority of the Internet resides.
Adding in short-form features such as microblogging is a welcomed addition. This is something that if people start to use in any numbers, we could see it having a serious impact.
According to the chart above, that is published daily, we can see the comments on the entire blockchain is a bit less than 30,000 per day. In the social media world, we have to acknolwedge how small that truly is.
This is out starting point. For all the talk of community and how we are strong, the numbers tell a different story. Consider the fact the Hive tag on Twitter is good for 5,000 Tweets per day. This is about 1/5th of what the entire blockchain does in commenting.
We then have to also factor in all the activity on Discord. That likely amounts to thousands more.
All of this being placed outside the ecosystem.
LeoThreads can alter this.
Thousands of Threads Per Day
Right now we are sitting in at a rather low level for LeoThreads. The total is hundreds, not thousands.
This is the weekly chart put out by Leo.stats. For the week, LeoThreads totaled 5,700. That is not even 1,000 Threads per day.
Keep in mind, Twitter does 500 million Tweets per day and LeoThreads is at a few hundred. All of Hive, has only 25,000 comments on a daily basis. This is how small we really are.
So what happens if we jack LeoThreads up to 5,000 per day? This is not exactly banging on the door of Twitter but it does have a major impact upon the overall numbers on here.
That would help to push the comment count north of 30K.
Everything is relative and we have to start somewhere. Fortunately, on Hive, we are starting at a low level. This is where we are going to be able to make a difference. As we can see, the numbers do not have to be over the top to have a massive impact.
Hopefully we will see the new UI roll out next week and be widely received. We are told it is an Alpha release with limited features. Also, we can expect a few bugs since that is how software works.
Nevertheless, from what we are told, it is a step in the right direction.
Things could start to get very interesting if this is a hit.

Surely I must say that thread on hive has come to stay. The best isn't seen yet as it's about to be unbelievable soon.
We are determined to push LEO threads to a higher level. I know by the year end, we must have reached 5,000 daily if many people will understand the concept
We're gonna grow so much this year!

If more people would move their chatter from Discord and Twitter to Threads, that would be what would make it grow. That’s one of my new initiatives is just moving all content to Hive with the one exception of keeping the Coin Logic TV going on YouTube, but even then I that’s just because I have already reached the subscriber count, lol, so might as well cross post trading videos, who knows, lol. But what kills me is there is more activity from Hive people on Twitter than there is actually engaging on Hive… Just my opinion man, lol.

The UI is the key. Obviously if we want to build the users, we have to make it so they want to come here. Right now, while threads has improved things somewhat, it's still not very practical to use it for engagement. Things scroll off the page and the hashtags haven't really gained much ground yet. Once it becomes easier, faster, and more organized we will have something to build upon that hopefully has some staying power.
Just like anything else, the early stages are the hardest. Once it gains a little traction it can build in a hurry. Ideally I would think the ultimate goal would be to make LeoThreads virtually identical to Twitter. If that can become the case then it's an easy sell. Why use Twitter and get used as the product, always one bad tweet from being banned, when you could use Threads and control your own info PLUS make a little extra on the side?

This post has inspired me to go make another thread. Right now.

New UI will definitely be a boost.
Getting adoption for any new thing is always fickle. When threads become easier to use, it becomes an easier sell for sure.
One of the best things about all of this though is I get nothing for time spent on Discord for instance...but for threads I potentially will. That is a good selling point. Especially for those already in the Hive ecosystem and those are the ones we need to get the snowball rolling.

Leothreads is just a few months old and we do not expect to attain over 5000 threads daily in a day, but as time goes on, it is what is possible especially when the 5000 MAUs are achieved and we are looking forward to that.
Twitter started from somewhere and it surged to such tweets per day. Same thing with leothreads someday and we all know what the team are doing to make it accomplished.
I believe threads will be an interesting story and history to talk about.
