Even growing up lower working class, I had access in the 70s to higher education and to penicillin. Not to mention I had 6 children and never died in childbirth. I would argue that I am far, far richer than even royal women of the earlier centuries. My jewelry is humble, but I will live longer to enjoy it. !BBH

Those who are in their 50s (or higher), in developed countries, are able to see the massive difference in soceity from the 1970s or 1980s.

I remember when cellphones were only in the hands of doctors or successful business people. It was a tool (toy) for the wealthy.

Today, more than 5.25 billion people across the planet have them...and they are far advanced over where they were then.

From 1981 to 1988 I went from keypunching FORTRAN code on IBM cards to having a PC on my desk. A bit like the leap from a horse and buggy to a Model T. Then the next leap from dial-up to wireless internet to smartphones everywhere.
