1945 Mexico Dos Peso Gold Coin

avatar

I got this Dos Pesos gold coin from JM Bullion. This Mexican Gold Coin, which has a face value of 2 Pesos and is legal tender, is the lowest denomination in the exclusive coin series produced by the Banco De Mexico.

Early in the 20th century, the Mexico City Mint created the Dos Peso Mexican Gold Coin, which is made up of.0482 troy ounces of pure gold. 90% pure gold is contained in each coin.

This amazing depiction shows a golden Eagle keeping its position atop a prickly pear cactus while it subdues a serpent with its strong beak and talons. It portrays Mexico's national Bird, down to the texture of its feathers and the width of its wingspan. "Estados Unidos Mexicanos" proudly serves as an arching heading above the image. It is the coat of arms of Mexico.

The open harvest wreath on the coin's reverse symbolizes Mexico's burgeoning agricultural sector. The coin's denomination, "Dos Pesos," is in the wreath's center and in the language of origin, Spanish. The coin's year of issuance, 1945, is also engraved.

Its diameter is 12.85 millimeters and it was minted for 29 years, from 1919 to 1948. The Dos Peso Mexican Gold Coin, despite its small size, has an amazing composition because it was made from.0482 troy oz of 90% pure gold.

Yes, the Mexican Dos Pesos Gold Money Coin, with its, about 1.5 Gram, of Gold, is great. The Local Coin Shop, was selling them for, only 3%, premium, a while back. But those days are over. I went to a Coin Show, with about 75 different Dealers, and only two, Dealers, had any, (several), for sale. Hard to find.
IMG_2707 (1).jpgThey are a great way to store wealth, in a small package.
Thanks again, SILVER SAVER - @silversaver888.

Mexican gold coins are scarce in my local considering there being a decent sized Spanish community in Vancouver. I wish the coin shows open up again. I miss the dynamic personal coin banter and trading that goes on in these shows.

On January, there is a small coin show in Sacramento. I think I'll go to that one since I am not sure to make it to Las Vegas.

I have always had a fondness for the Mexican gold peso's @silversaver888 !😀
"Coin World" listings were the only choice for these Gold coins in the late 60s....
You would send your check and wait six to eight weeks, to be able to hold a beautiful gold coin in your hand!!!
Hmmm.... I guess that was the beginning of stackitis Lol!!😇😀

In the 1960s there was not much counterfeiting. Now they are rampant, and they sell them openly in eBay.

Isn’t that sad @silversaver888?🤔
We saw a lot of counterfeits of the Chinese panda 10 years or so ago. My LCS always told me they would guarantee their authenticity. I was always afraid to buy these off eBay. ……..
