Money Matters: A Broad Subject

Who Invented Money?

As I step out this morning to find meat, as I do on a daily basis, I wonder what led to all the stress we have to go through as human beings. Though my day was off to a good start, I can't help but wonder why we all have to work before we earn a living. Who brought up the idea?

Etymology of Money.

Before the invention of money, we all heard about trade by barter, where people traded goods. For example, someone can bring a chair in exchange for a plate of food, and so on.

I looked up the query “who invented money,” and Wikipeadia said a lot in History of Money. The first sentence: “The history of money is the development over time of systems for the exchange, storage, and measurement of wealth.” My first question is: “Why do we have to measure wealth?”

The desire of man for class difference has been long buried in their nature since time immemorial. I wonder what will happen if we all have food as much as we want, shelter of our choice, and clothing as we desire, aside from other materials we may covet as humans.

We bask in the ego of having enough and much more than others, and this has led to a lot of struggle and survival of the fittest, among other competing challenges that evolved from our cravings.

First Money

I am definitely not advertising any brand, nor am I digressing from the topic discussed. According to Credit Karma in The History of Money: How currency evolved from pelts to paper : “The first metal coins date back to the 7th Century BCE in Lydia (modern Turkey) and China.” We can say this is the first currency created and used as a medium of exchange. Several studies agreed with this, but of course there are divergent views. The first paper money was also created in China.

Who Controls Money?

The International Monetary Fund is an international regulatory body for money matters, aside from other national bodies and partners. Beyond the legal framework established by international and national government bodies, I believe the rich control money, and it has been so frameworked such that the poor would never find a loop except they are helped by those in the rich class.

From the earlier analysis on the need to “measure wealth,” encouraging class and difference, if you don’t “measure up,” we might as well say you are poor.

My Summation

Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bernard Arnault, and those on the top list of the richest men on earth will tell you to work, work, work, but if you check their histories, you’ll discover one thing. Most of them, if not all, have someone who lifted them out of poverty or have a very rich background.

As much as I have shed some light on those that led us to the path we currently tread as humans, working for money on a daily basis, probably wondering why money was even invented in the first place, and other money-related questions might be roaming the streets of our hearts, my suggestions are simple.

Get close to someone who is already rich and has an averagely good character; be ready to learn and endure; and consistently apply your learnings to your personal life. Read like never before as trends keep evolving. There’s also a miracle in giving, whether it’s advice, money, material, etc. This works for me.

As I walk the path to attaining my desires, just like every other right thinking individual, I feel things could have been better if we just had things we needed without having a culture and system putting pressure on us based on measures created by them.

I hate laziness, but I believe there are people who work more than they achieve and others who work less than their results. I look forward to your comments as I search for better ways to enlighten people on money matters.

Not sure if you're into podcasts but they are one of my favorite ways of learning, these days, basically because I can do other things too, when I listen.

I have been listening to a podcast called Money Matters. It's basically about Bitcoin but also about life, freedom, cryptocurrency, finance and politics. Super interesting and inspiring, if you ask me.

Thought you might like it ;<)

Have a great day
