SplinterForge: A Potential Gold Mine
You might be asking yourself (Self) what is this SplinterForge RentMoney Speaks of? Is it yet another game release from Splinterlands (Nope) Good we already have enough of that at current time. Is it something that is being added to the in game marketplace of Splinterlands (Nope) good my wallet is in pain and wants to rest. Is it.... (Not that either). RentMoney tell us What is SplinterForge? SplinterForge is a game that will utilize our Splinterland cards. This game is not created by the Splinterlands team and its tokens/packs or any other form of currencies/ in game assets are not directly associated with the Splinterlands company in any way. Official SplinterForge Homepage: https://splinterforge.io
Boss Monsters and Boss Fights has long been discussed among Splinterland players and eventually we will get to see just that but as we know Splinterlands has many working parts that are being improved on and implemented routinely. This means that the roll out of features such as LAND and BOSS Fights sometimes get delayed. For those who are highly anticipating Boss Battles, SplinterForge just might be able to fulfill that craving. That's right SplinterForge is introducing Boss Battles to the Splinterlands community by way of creating their own game (SplinterForge) that can be played today.
Above is a screen shot that you will see upon going to the official SplinterForge homepage. As it notes you can play today but everything will be reset before pre-sale starts. Curious as to when that is (Me To). As the popup states, "This Pop-up will be updated with pre-sale information when it is announced". So one way to make sure you don't miss out on SplinterForge pre-sale is go to their homepage from time to time and read the pop-up details. There was some SplinterForge information in the latest town-hall where a SplinterForge representative discussed the game. I'll leave a video directly below for those who are interested. SplinterForge talk starts after the teams introductions around the 3:30 Minute mark.
As is stated in the Town-Hall there will be a total of One Million SplinterForge packs for sale with 200,000 being available in the presale. SplinterForge will follow a similar model as the Splinterland games and will offer airdrops at certain sell points. It is also noted in the Splinterlands Town-Hall that one can find SplinterForgess pre-sale info posted in the SplinterForge community located on the Hive Blockchain. I did a little digging and found out the below.

That introduction for SplinterForge was longer then I intended but the information needed to be shared. The original reasoning for this post and my over the top click bait title (or is it only time will tell) is the Forgium (Forge) token in which is going to be accepted at the rate of $1/1000 by the SplinterForge game. Now if we take a quick look at the secondary price of Forgium we will see that currently the buy orders are at the price of 0.000691 HIVE. With the presale not starting until December 5th there is plenty of time to purchase some FORGE so I decided to put in a buy order for 150,000. If fulfilled I will be able to participate in the 50 Crate bonus offer. If not its Likely I just purchase the 10 Crate option instead. Digging a little deeper into my 150,000 purchase order the cost would be 104* HIVE which is currently worth about $37* USD. The value I get in return would be worth $150 USD (using the price in which the SplinterForge game plans on accepting the FORGE token at) or if the game is unsuccessful less than $37* USD. Will the game be a success; no-one can say for sure but I do know one thing and that thing is the following. I want to support community members and games that bring utility to our Splinterland assets as each new use-case brought to our Splinterlands assets bring an extra layer of value to those assets. On top of that Supporting games such as SplinterForge will encourage others to build games in which utilize our Splinterland assets. So is the FORGE token a potential gold mine (It could be but like all things in cryptocurrency and most things in life, there is risk).

I may have missed it somewhere, but I'm still a bit confused on how the markets will work around this game. I know that the packs can be traded and transferred, but what about the cards themselves, will they build a marketplace for us to sell/buy cards or do we have to go back to the old school player to player trading system?
Otherwise I'm really excited for this project and I will stack myself a bit more Forgium!
Browsing the site I don't see a marketplace section. I do see a card section. I assumed there was one without even looking. Its possible it doesn't get introduced until the sale starts or the first pack is opened. Its possible its already there we just don't see it due to no NFT's available currently to trade for. As a side note, the SplinterForge site has nice functionality and seems to be running smoothly.

Yeah maybe it just pops up later.
But I do not agree with the statement that the site runs smoothly. For me the sites is nothing but laggy, every click I do has an annoying 2-5 second delay, after choosing my cards to battle and clicking "Battle" it takes around 10-20 seconds for the battle screen to come up, and switching imbues on my items is as frustrating as it can be.
I really hope they make some quality of life updates before the actual game goes live.
Interesting, random areas of the site seem to load almost instantly for me. Page load and log in was quick. I did not test game function. I'm using the FireFox browser.

The game is playable as it stands now at least as far as the backend is concerned. Our main focus between now and launch is to make the Frontend display everything properly. We are also working on QOL updates for which some have been completed but not updated on the site yet. Main QOL updates being worked on now are lag and Battle screen.
Thanks for taking the time to respond to comments.

Yes, from talking with the founders and messages on their discord, they are building an in-game marketplace similar to Splinterlands for selling assets player to player. @rareraptor can you comment further on the plans for the in-game marketplace?
Our top priority after launch is a marketplace to buy/sell/rent Splinterforge assets. We have a small team so we focus on one thing at a time while also addressing QOL and bugs in the game.
Looks like an interesting project. I'm heading there now to check it out.
btw the changes in reward system based on card level is killing me. My rewards are cut between 50% and 80% every match. My strategy was to have a few legendary cards that were super effective and not level up all my cards. I spent some bucks doing that and now the change undercut my strategy. Sucks because I'm not the guy they are going after... I'm just collateral damage.
50-80% ouch.... I have a mix and match leveled cards also so the change doesn't do me any favors either but I'm ok with that as long as it helps the health of the overall game. I'm thinking about putting everything for rent as time is scarce these days but the Rental Market seems to have taken a hit also.

Hard to tell how much changes to game are hurting the game and how much general crypto market is hurting the game 🤔
Something needs to be done for the new player experience and user retention that is for sure. The upcoming promo event seems to be a step in that direction. Rumor is there will be a promo event that gives a promo card to pack purchasers coming up sometime next month. Entry point is said to be low so everyone can participate.

Will it affect my Splinterlands in-game if I import my cards to Splinterforge?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That is a good question. Maybe the HIVEN who created the pre-sale announcement post has the answer (@unitmaster). I would assume at the very least any card in active play on SplinterForge can't be doubled dipped into use within the Splinterlands game.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Lol okay, I will hold on for now before proceeding I just login and it looks interesting.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It will not affect your Splinterlands in-game cards. SplinterForge does not import your cards. It simply accesses your card library that you own, and uses them in the boss fights. I've even rented SPL cards just to try in this game.
Thanks @rentmoney for tagging me. I didn't see your post, very nice post!
Many thanks for the explanation much appreciated. I will give is a try.

That certainly looks interesting, and its cool that you can use NFTs from another game !
I thought the same thing when first reading about the game. Got to love having additional use for our Splinterland assets.

9 trillion total max supply and founder account is new with no posts... seems risky to bet until the founder / owner steps forward so we can see who is behind this yet looks awesome
There is a rep in the town-hall video. I'm not certain if its the founder or not. As always, one should only invest what they are willing to lose.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
The founders hold a lot of splinterlands assets and are active in mavs chat on discord. If you look at my post https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@unitmaster/what-is-splinterforge I did an interview with them and posted some information from them.
It certainly could be risky like any other investment like you said. However, the owners/founders aren't hiding or waiting to "step forward" and can easily be contacted on SPL discord (rareraptor and rarelyhere).
Both @rareraptor and @rarelyhere in discord DMs are open. You can contact us anytime and we will respond to your message. We welcome all questions and suggestions for the game in our discord.
sounds great thanks!
Rareraptor is an older account and you can check our assets on that account. KYC was completed on the account as well a long time ago. Rarelyhere has been around the whole time but was lacking a Hive account. The name was available when we checked recently so we decided it would be best to claim it before someone else claimed to use for scamming people. We have the communities safety in mind.
Rarelyhere has 10 years experience in general security as well have been on the health and safety comities where he worked.

I'm liking what I see with this one so far and the gaming aspect looks pretty solid as I played through it a bit. A little of a lag for sure but I'm curious if that will be fixed for main launch. Otherwise I see some cool potential and value brought to Splinterlands with this. Kind of crazy this wasn't don't by Splinterlands as so many wanted boss battles. Even if you earned some skins or something from boss battles it would have still brought more value. Anyways this looks awesome and I'll be picking up some packs for sure.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
You are the second person to mention the lag. I haven't tried game play yet but I'll give it a shot today. It was nice to see the packs are priced reasonably. Other start-ups should take note of that.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
So they won't be letting you play with your Splinterlands assets? I guess that was just a demo then? I guess it does make sense since they need funds to keep the game running.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Splinterlands assets can be used. There is an import option for our cards. I haven't used it yet so I'm not sure how it functions. They are also selling packs to generate their own income. Their tokens and pack purchasing function similar to how Splinterlands does.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Just to clarify, the SplinterForge game does not import your Splinterlands cards. It accesses them through the hive keychain but your cards stay in Splinterlands.
Thanks for the clarification.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yes, you play with your Splinterlands assets. SplinterForge also has a "hero" on which you equip SplinterForge assets (ring, weapon, helmet, etc.) to improve the hero's attack stats. So it's a combination of SPL assets plus SF assets. You can technically play without purchasing any SF assets.
