Hardfork 22.4444 Named Because of the Chinese Superstition that #4 is Bad Luck???
I have been reading a lot of craziness lately.
I have also been witnessing how scrappy we as a community are.
One of the rumors I read on the flyby was from @therealwolf, who stated that Hardfork #22.4444 was named because it was named so because Chinese people consider #4 a very unlucky number, so he, was naming his fork something else
I laughed a bit, thinking that this was our witnesses' way of being even more scrappy than I had anticipated, and didn't pay it much mind.
But it stayed on my mind.
So I googled it
And this is what I found. #4 is indeed an unlucky number in the Chinese culture because the four sounds like the word death. Just like here in the West, we tend to think of the #13 as unlucky, the Chinese seem to think that #4 is unlucky.
Again, this is what my American version of google told me, so who knows how much validity there is to it, or how far spread in the "Chinese" culture this is spread. Something that made me question the validity of my google search was that it did not say in which Chinese language four was bad luck: Mandarin? Cantonese? Wu?
Instead of Diving into "Chinese" Culture I decided to Dive into MY AMERICAN CULTURE (Who I realize just copies "culture" from other cultures), where #4 is a very good number
And what did I remember? That four is a very lucky number. When a four comes up in tarot readings or numerology it is a sturdy, good, home building number.
Four is sturdy, like a table or chair with four legs.
Four is a good home building number. You want a good home with four strong corners.
It's March, and almost St. Patrick's Day, a Four Leaf Clover means great luck.

So, since we are building, FOUR is a great number, and having it four times is even better.
Witnesses, if you did it to be scrappy and rude. LOL. You actually picked a GREAT Number.
Let's Build
PS. There are also four tines in a fork...

Very appropriate. Maybe make a rule that all HF end in .4444 :)
Reminds me of a fake tombstone that said “Here lies Lester Moore. Caught 4 slugs from a 44. No Les. No Moore.”
I do like the sound of 4444
Thanks for stopping by and having a read.
Lots of muck to sift through to get to the "real" stuff.
