How does the Christmas celebration affect your finances?

It's not the most pleasant topic of discussion, but it's something that we all have dealt this period.

Christmas is a time when many people find themselves in need of extra cash, whether they're buying gifts for friends and loved ones or treating themselves to new clothes that are needed for special occasions. For this reason, many turn to payday loans as an emergency solution to cover the cost of their festive spending.

So what impact does Christmas have on our financial situation?

People often hand over a lot of presents and other items during Christmas. Of course, not everyone plans to buy so many gifts, but even those who only plan to buy one present for each person in their family could easily rack up a bill of several hundred pounds before the big day arrives.

That being said, some will go into debt just to make sure that they can give their children the best possible Christmas experience; it's estimated that nearly 10% of people end up borrowing money from payday loan companies during December.

Of course, Christmas isn't all about giving and receiving presents alone – food plays a major part too. The average person spends around $60 per head at this time of year, which works out to about $3,6000 for every man, woman, and child. It's hardly surprising then that the number of households struggling with debt rises.

How can we avoid becoming financially strained during the festive period?

Well, if you're hoping to get away without spending anything, don't hold your breath. If you want to do something special for someone close to you, you'll probably have to fork out for it anyway, so there's no point trying to save yourself money in the short term.

However, if you really want to stick to a strict budget, then the first thing to do is to identify exactly what you can afford to spend. Then, once you've identified how much you have available, set yourself a limit and try not to exceed it. You might find that you're able to buy everything on your list while still having enough left over for the odd treat.

If not, then it may be necessary to cut back on certain aspects of your spending, such as buying brand-name products or going out for meals instead of cooking at home.

Finally, many people find that the secret to keeping within their budget is to spread their purchases evenly across several different paydays rather than waiting until Christmas Eve to do their shopping. By doing this, you won't be tempted to use your credit card, because you'll have the cash in hand. And, once you've paid off your debts, you'll be able to start saving for next year's Christmas – and the year after that too!

The problem isn't Christmas, the problem is Celebration.

Whenever some humans have reasons to celebrate something, you'll witness massive show-off such that the show-off may even outshine the main celebration. People will na focus more on the accidents (party) rather than the substance (reason).

The same can be said off in Birthday parties and other celebrations.

So I think Christmas and finances issue is just a piece of groundnut in the whole drinking garri of Humans-celebration-finances

My style have been giving Silver coins as my friends and family know that so I buy all year round in particular themes according to taste. No problems around December, it's the summer when I have most of my major expenses come due like property taxes and insurance premiums coming due.
Happy Holidays @iskafan

That's amazing, Ma. It's better that way, because you get to buy when the price is nice instead of during the heat of the celebration.

I know you always have a plan for those due bills too. I trust you.

Happy holidays to you, ma'am. Thanks for visiting.

Omoh. I totally get this. I and momsy made no chinchin. We just focused on what we could afford. Rice and chicken. No drinks like before. We shared with only a handful of people and it's even better that way. Thank God for sense😂. Merry Christmas dearie and a Happy New Year

In our country, some would borrow money just to buy food and presents for Christmas.. after the holidays, it would be a problem to them in paying for their debts 😅.. Why not celebrate holidays simply.. As long as we are in good health, that's what matters most..

I am telling you, Jane, we can just celebrate with what we have, as long as we have good health. 🥺😴😔

Here too, most people put it all on credit card then spend the next year paying it off, then doing the same thing all over again!

Nice content here, we have changed the real story about Christmas and some have been subjected to pressure.
I celebrated Christmas, but I don't do more than myself, I cut my coat according to my size and I'm okay about it.

Thank you for this great content, you are amazing !

The older you get the less you want gifts etc, for me the best gift to give or receive is a homemade one!
Here though, people just use their credit cards to buy crap that ends up in the landfill after a few months, meanwhile they are still paying off the credit card all year.

A homemade gift is the best one. That's the one I like too. Staying home, prepping or whipping up a cream or two in the kitchen, serving everyone with smiles, and sitting to dig in together in love, kindness, and gratitude.

It's a pity 🥺
