Cordial greetings to all movie lovers and their productions, I wish you are in the best possible situation. And if this is not the case, I wish you the best of encouragement so that you can overcome the difficulty you are facing.
I'm not usually a big fan of fashions, so when I see a story that I think is good and has a good message, regardless of whether it's recent or old, I try to give it a special place among my favourites. And it is the situation of the film that I will present to you below.
I share with you a production that I appreciate a lot. In this case it is a South Korean film from 2014 of the historical type. Called: The Admiral: Roaring Currents, the film recreates a historic naval battle, in which some 13 Korean ships, commanded by the legendary general Yi sun-shin, face and defeat some 300 Japanese ships. This is what is remembered as the Battle of Myeongryang which occurred around the year 1597.
Even today it is studied and it is a feat, that I do not know, that could have been equaled or surpassed. It was a lost cause, a desperate situation, yet we see the fight of one man against everything and everyone.
At the beginning of the film they give us the introduction to the story, with the chronology of events, we see the general Yi sun-shin, being cruelly tortured.
General Yi sun-shin had achieved successes in previous naval campaigns against the Japanese, but as happens in politics: intrigues were hatched against him, accusing him of espionage. And the reward of envy at court for all his triumphs was dishonor.
Command of the naval force that had been taken from him was given to his rival, General Won Gyun, who in his first and last battle (Chilcheollyang) lost almost the entire fleet and his own life. . Only a dozen ships survive, which are the ones that General Yi sun-shin uses in the film's story for combat.
General Yi sun-shin, a man sick and weakened as a result of the torture to which he was subjected, has to face the discouragement and fear of his own troops.
Which is reasonable, any soldier can come to feel that it is a suicide mission. It reminds me a bit of the situation that occurs at Thermopylae and the 300 Spartans.
The great challenge is to transform the fear of the men under his command into courage. Devise a strategy to fight and defeat as many enemies as possible.
In his diary notes, General Yi sun-shin recalled moments of the battle when his ship was alone attacking the enemy fleet and the rest of the ships of his army abandoned him. They only saw him from a distance.
He wrote that he felt like a lonely castle in the middle of nowhere, resisting attacks and pushing back the enemy.
A single ship facing 300, that is what is called courage. And a noble heart.
It was not luck, nor was it a miracle, the general had to study the terrain very well and use all his experience.
He also had to find a way to encourage his troops for battle. If you get the morale of the people who follow you up, you will see how they are capable of doing things they never thought possible.
So much damage was caused by himself, with only one ship, against the tidal wave of enemy ships, that the rest of his twelve ships eventually joined the battle little by little.
This story has a very special place for me. The general was in such a difficult situation, abandoned, being sick and being despised. General Yi sun-shin against all odds, using all his skill and courage achieved the impossible. It wasn't easy, it wasn't luck. It was hard work, continuous, even though he himself didn't expect to survive, he kept going and he won. It was fixed in his mind that he must not fail if he wanted to save the country from him.
When I'm a little down, I usually watch this film, the general is one of my favorite historical figures. I don't aspire to reach as much as he did. He is was a special kind of person, but he inspires me and helps me through the difficult moments that life usually throws my way.
As always I am not an expert, I just share something that I like and I hope that if you have the opportunity and can see it. You can make your own opinion.

I appreciate that you liked it. The general is one of my favorite historical figures.
I like this kind of productions, recreating historical situations and bringing them to the screen, it is very well set and has good special effects. There are many conflicts in Asian history that can be very well represented in productions. A great feat without a doubt.
Best regards
I'm glad you liked it, they were very serious in their work. People get hurt, and there is nothing superhuman or supernatural. The general is a great man, but he is human, he can be hurt, and he bleeds.
Thank you very much for reading and commenting.
I might just give this a watch... Love asian, Japanese style war movies!
He is a hero in Korea, a great historical figure. The film photography is great.

This movie looks very interesting, it reminds me of one that was released last year or earlier this year, I liked the review.
I like movies and series of this genre, I will put it on my list.
Thank you very much. The impressive thing is that it is about a historical fact.
