Let's Explore the Botanical Greenhouses and Aquariums of the Botanical Garden in Jibou, Salaj, Romania Part II
Best thoughts friends from all over the world
If in the last post I managed to share with you the outside of the Botanical Garden in Jibou, Salaj county, Romania, and I noticed that you were delighted to see it through the lens of my phone, here in today's post I want to stay within the same Botanical Garden only we will visit the Botanical Greenhouses and Aquariums that are inside.
If you haven't yet seen the first part of my post you can see it here.
Before we get to go inside I want to share with you some pictures of the Wesselenyi Palace, I mentioned it in the previous post, unfortunately the palace is not open to the public, from what I read there were some problems regarding the retrocession to the heirs, I hope that these legal problems will be finalized and the palace to enter a renovation program and be returned to the public.
Please note that the opening hours of the botanical greenhouses and aquariums are slightly different from those of the Botanical Garden, from 8:00 to 18:30, and you do not have to pay any additional entrance fee to access the botanical greenhouses and botanical aquariums.
Let's take a walk among exotic plants and lush vegetation.
Let me start with a brief history of these botanical greenhouses.
In 1978 he obtained the damming of a neighboring river at a place called Valea Viilor, and the authorities created a small reservoir whose water was needed for the Botanical Garden. He built a further six greenhouses for tropical and Mediterranean plants and obtained funds for a much-needed central heating plant to provide a constant temperature in these greenhouses. His greenhouses contain an important collection of palms and exotic species of trees, tropical and subtropical plants distributed geographically and spread over an area of 4 000 square meters.
In the 1980s he built the aquarium where 40 species of fish live. As funds from the state and the municipality were insufficient, he set up micro-production greenhouses for potted and cut flowers for sale throughout the country. The garden is organized into several sectors with related tree and flower species.
The Botanical Garden in Jibou has grown and today it has over 5000 species of plants from all over the world. A new aquarium has been built containing an aquatic fauna of exotic and tropical fish.
If you're interested in the names of different species of exotic, lush or any other type of plant, here you'll find information panels where you're sure to find everything you want to know.
There are so many species, so we focused mainly on the lush vegetation, but also on the types of cacti (we have lots of cacti at home).
After more than an hour, we managed to see most of what these botanical greenhouses and aquariums have to offer and came to the conclusion that they are just as beautiful as the outside of the Botanical Garden, so if you ever get to this part of Romania, make sure you put this amazing place on your bucket list and book a half day in the Botanical Garden.
THE END!

Another fantastic post. The greenery and exotic plants are very impressive. And it’s so interesting to learn the history behind the greenhouses.
Glad you liked it and thanks for stopping by.
Very nice sharing on the botanic garden. The green house looks very similar to what we have in Singapore’a flower dome in gardens by the bay. I like it that the botanic garden you showed has an aquarium too! Have great day!
I'm so glad you liked it and thank you for stopping by.
By the way, I've been wanting to visit Singapore for some time, but for now this remains a dream (due to the very high costs).
Hugs from Romania.
If you ever drop by Singapore, drop me a message and I will be glad to show you around our little island
Thank you very much, it is very nice to know that I have a friend ready to help me.
